WESTWOOD FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MINUTES MEETING DATE: Monday, April 24, 2023 CALLED TO ORDER: at 7:03 p.m. by Dennis Farrell. PRESENT: Martha Urbiel (MU), Denise Farrell (DF), Noeline Grefrath (NG), Suzanne Gorham (SG), Bev Karch (BK), Mike Violano (MV), Linda Phayre (LP), Frank Zimmerman (FZ), Nickeisha Williams (NW), and Chris Montana (CM). SUNSHINE LAW: Read by DF. PUBLIC FORUM: One member of the Junior Library Council was present. MINUTES: NG made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 27 meeting; MV seconded; BK abstained. The motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT: SG presented the treasurer's report and cash management fund. The total of the checking account, cash management fund, and capital account is $232,345.96. A motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by MV; seconded by BK. The motion carried. The current bills list (7294-7314) was reviewed. A motion to accept the bills list was made by BK; seconded by FZ. The motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Budget Committee. MV shared that MU had previously revised the budget to match the funds the Library will receive from the Borough. Budget details will be shared at the next meeting. NW questioned MU’s meeting with Durene. MU shared that she met with Durene to discuss the capital projects. They agreed that routine meetings should be held to discuss capital projects. Durene confirmed that uncompleted projects will be addressed in the future. DIRECTOR'S REPORT: MU plans to move to the BCCLS system for WiFi in the near future. The cost will be lower and the service will be more secure than what the Library currently has. Several children’s, young adult, and adult programs ran this past month. Extra programs ran during spring break. The Garden Club is working hard on the gardens. The Library is working with Celebrate Westwood on their community yarn art project. OLD BUSINESS: MV shared that the Friends hosted a successful in-house fundraiser, Bourbon and Bubbles, in addition to their monthly book sale. The 150 tickets sold out and the silent auction was very successful. Local businesses donated generously to help make the event successful. MU will keep the banking info breach on the agenda as an item until all affected employees receive a hard copy of the information they are awaiting from the Borough. NEW BUSINESS: MV agreed to chair the Strategic Plan committee. BK and NW agreed to join the committee. FZ reminded all Trustees to complete their financial disclosure agreement by April 31.
