W.HIT&FISH (:ommun1T¥ --LIBRARY-- WHITEFISH COMMUNITY LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MINUTES OF MEETING SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 WHITEFISH COMMUNITY LIBRARY 9 SPOKANE AVE WHITEFISH, MT Trustees Present: Anne Shaw Moran, Chair; Sarah Ericson, Vice Chair/Tamarack Federation Representative; Cheryl Hyland, Trustee; Trevor Gonser, Treasurer (via phone) Others Present: Director Joey Kositzky, Secretary 1) CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 7:04pm 2) COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC None 3) DIRECTOR'S REPORT Director Kositzky presented a recommendation that a Youth Services Librarian position be considered for the Whitefish Community Library. She will create a position description and financial impact at the October 14, 2020 Trustees' meeting 4) OLD BUSINESS a) Approve July 8, 2020 Trustees' Minutes Page 2 Trustees' Minutes September 14, 2020 MOTION: Trustee Ericson made a motion to approve the July 8, 2020 Board of Trustees' Minutes. Trustee Hyland seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. b) Approve August 12, 2020 Trustees' Minutes MOTION: Trustee Hyland made a motion to approve the August 12, 2020, with the addition that the minutes be revised to insert the words "$7500 toward" between "cover" and "the new Fire Alarm System under New Business. Trustee Ericson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. c) TIF/Remodeling Update Nothing to report d) COVID-19 Phase II Director Kositzky reported that the current operational plan for the library was going very well and Staff agreed there was no need to re-evaluate the plan at this time. e) Budget Update None f) OCR Update Director Kositzky reported that she had been in contact with City Attorney Angela Jacobs and there had been no further communication from the Department of Education. Page 3 Trustees' Minutes September 9, 2020 g) Other Old Business None 5) NEW BUSINESS a) Next Meeting Date The next meeting will be Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 7pm b) Procedure for Advertising New Trustee Position There was discussion concerning Trustee vacancies and Trustee-in-Training positions. Chair Moran asked that Trustees brainstorm ideas for those who may be interested in applying for vacancies. She also reported that she had contacted a potential applicant and would follow up after discussion with the applicant. c) Other New Business Trustee Hyland reported the Whitefish Library Association's "Great Fish" challenge had reached the threshold for obtaining matching funds from the Whitefish Community Foundation. 6) ADJOURNMENT: Trustee Gonser made a motion to adjourn.
