III. PUBLIC COMMENT
A. Council Member John Gragnani- Dr. Gragnani discussed the recent fatality that occurred at Pond Rd. and
Route 100, and similar incidents at Old Eatherton Rd. and Route 109. He would like a sign at Pond Rd. and
Route 100 that states “Local Traffic Only, No Semi Traffic”. He also requested that Captain Mundel rotate
officers through both locations to monitor traffic, as well as at Route T and Route 100. He also asked for
temporary signals at Route 109 during construction.
IV. FOR INFORMATION
A. Route 109 Traffic Change
1) MoDOT has eliminated the southbound left turn lane and have now installed temporary signals.
2) The Wildwood Precinct Police and the City are monitoring traffic to see if MODOT should modify the
signal phasing or timing.
3) Community Park is being used as a cut-through route, but there are not large numbers yet. Pond Rd.
and Pond Grover Loop Rd. are concerns for cut-through traffic.
1
4) The City is conducting traffic counts on Pond Rd. now and we have done so before construction.
5) The City can also count Community Park if the Board desires.
6) The City is working to open Taylor Rd. by June 18 and the City will take it over by 4th of July.
7) Metro West has a pre-emption system operating with the temporary signal at Route 109 and the
eastbound ramp. The system can change the signal phase to clear traffic when they receive a call.
B. Rick Brown responds to Dr. John Gragnani’s public comment
1) MoDOT is studying the use of J-Turns for the intersection of Route 100 and Pond Road and Route T.
That study should be complete soon.
