Board of Aldermen Meeting

CITY OF WILLARD BOARD OF ALDERMAN SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 27, 2011 Board present: Alderman Trapp-present, Alderman Roggensees----, Alderman Hemphill-present, Mayor Keltner-present, Alderman Magee----, Alderman Vincent- present, Alderman Simmons-present. Also present: City Clerk, Dale Duvall and CFO, Karen Robson. Tom Keltner led the Pledge of Allegiance. Call to Order Mayor Tom Keltner called the meeting to order. Roll Call City Clerk, Dale Duvall did the roll call. Alderman Trapp-present, Alderman Roggensees---, Alderman Hemphill-present, Mayor Keltner-present, Alderman Magee-----, Alderman Vincent-present, Alderman Simmons-present. Citizen Input No Citizen Input Safe Room Discussion The Mayor explained to the Board that he would like to consider giving the safe room grant to the Willard School District to utilize instead of the City. The Mayor stated that he thought this to be more practical due to the City’s financial situation and the fact that the building would be able to be utilized more by the school. It was also noted that if FEMA denied the transfer request then the Board would need to decide whether to completely turn down the grant. Motion made by Aldermen Vincent and seconded by Aldermen Simmons. Alderman Simmons-I, Alderman Trapp-I, Alderman Roggensees---, Alderman Hemphill---, Alderman Vincent-I, Alderman Magee----. Three votes aye. One vote Nay. Motion carried. Aldermen Hemphill stated that he misunderstood the motion and that he thought that the grant was being shot down with no talks with the school. Aldermen Hemphill asked to change his vote. Attorney Reynolds said that it was allowed. Alderman Simmons-I, Alderman Trapp-I, Alderman Roggensees----, Alderman Hemphill-Aye, Alderman Vincent-I, Alderman Magee----. All votes Aye.
