Third St, Williamsport, PA. This meeting was duly advertised in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette. Mr. Yoder: All right, I will call the meeting to order, I do not have a gavelMr. and so okay, welcome to our city Council Joseph Pawlak reorganization meeting, it is Monday, January 5, we are in the trade and transit one, first floor, please rise for the invocation followed by roll call and we will continue through the .agenda. So, vice JanicePresident Beiter Frank, City Clerk,and nearly elected Jonah absent Todd Milliken, I will let you pop up with the city clerk and she will swear you in. Mr. Yoder Congratulations to you both and Jonah, specifically to you, congratulations on a hard-fought campaign and taking that chair. You are in for a ride! And I mean that in the most positive way. It is a great ride. You will learn a lot and you will grow a lot and I'm excited to see that for you. Excited to work with you. Mr. Milliken: I am excited for the opportunity. Looking forward to working with you guys! Mr. Yoder let's move to item 5. Nominations for president of city Council and vote. I will open the floor for nominations and I'll stick my neck out here and make a nomination. I'm going to nominate Eric Beiter for the role of Council President. And for a couple different reasons. Over his first term and last two years as vice president I have seen the qualities that I think we need in Council President sitting in this chair for four years. He has sound judgment. He has very deep institutional knowledge. He has unwavering commitment to Williamsport and its best interests and I do not know many people that have more commitment to the city then Eric does. He is uniquely capable of leading this and so I am confident that he will serve with distinction. I hope others will join me in supporting this nomination and I am very excited about the opportunity he has over the next year and his leadership as Council President. Are there other nominations for Council President? BONNIE KATZ: I would like to second your nomination. Mr. Yoder: Thank you, Bonnie. We will go to a vote then peered Mrs. Frank, on the nomination? I need a second for that, right? Mr. White: You need somebody to move to close and a second to do that and then a roll call vote and then you can do the vote. Mr. Yoder: Okay, is the emotion and second to close the vote? Mr. Pulizzi made the motion and it was seconded by Mrs. Katz.. . Mr. Yoder. Frank on the roll call to close the nomination? The motion to close the nominations was closed with five yes roll call votes. Mr. Pulizzi voted yes, Mrs. Katz voted yes, Mr. Milliken voted yes, Mr. Beiter voted yes, and Mr. Yoder voted yes. Ms. Miele and Mr. Mackey were absent. Mr. Yoder: Yes. That passes five and a zero and let's take a roll call vote on the nomination itself. The motion to accept Eric Beiter for the City Council President was passed with five yes roll call votes. Mr. Pulizzi voted yes, Mrs. Katz voted yes, Mr. Milliken voted yes, Mr. Beiter voted yes, and Mr. Yoder voted yes. Ms. Miele and Mr. Mackey were absent. Mr. Yoder : Yes, motion passes five and zero and I will now turn this over to Council President Beiter to continue the meeting. The floor is yours. Mr. Beiter: Thank you very much. Greatly appreciated. I would first like to say thank you to the other members of Council for having confidence in me to lead this group over the next year. To have that from the six of you is immensely important to me and I hope that I can continue to grow as a leader, leading the six of you and just a better person with your support. So, thank you all for that. Mrs. Katz : Eric, may I make a statement here? Mrs. Katz, . Before Adam, I want to say thank you for over the you're done. You have done an agreeable job. I appreciate everything. People do not realize and understand the work that is involved with the president and the Council and you just did a remarkable job. And, also, going to school at the same time and working and taking care of a baby! So, that is Superman, what can I say? But, anyhow, thank you very much, Adam. Mr. Yoder : I appreciate that, Bonnie. It is a grind. That is absolutely the case, but it has been a good grant as I kind of mention to you, Jonah. It has been a unique part of my journey here on city Council and I will echo a lot of the sentiments that Eric relayed. I am extremely grateful for the years that my colleagues put in me to lead this group and I have grown a lot from it and hopefully also good steward of and did some good things. And now I'm excited for our new president, Mr. Beiter. Mr. Beiter: Thank you, very much. Okay, we'll move onto item number six peer nominations for vice president of city Council. I would like to be the vote to open those nominations. And the person that I would like to nominate for that role would be Councilman Vincent Pulizzi. Councilman Pulizzi has been on Council now, this is his sixth year. Specifically in the past he has stepped up and taken on negotiations with our unions, all three of them, I will say, police, fire and he has renegotiated pilots with various nonprofits in the community peer to be both advantageous for the city of Williamsport, but also for the nonprofits. We have to have a strong relationship with them and so our community can be a vibrant one and a healthy one. So, I would hope that he would be willing to step into this role for this year and continue to do that work and be my right-hand man for this year. Mrs. Katz: I would like to second that. Mr. Beiter: Thank you, Bonnie. Mrs. Katz, any other nominations? Could we have the vote then on the - Mr. White: You will want to take a motion and second to close and then roll call on that. Mr. Pulizzi, anything that you would like to say? Mr. Pulizzi I would like to say thank you very much for the confidence that you will have put in me. I like to get most of my speaking and do my work outside of counsel. I do not really speak a whole lot during Council meetings, but when I do I do kind of pop up on a soapbox every once in a while. And I am very fortunate to be working with all of you and Bonnie and you know I know that we can continue the momentum with everything that we started six years ago and I look forward to getting Williamsport into a position of prosperity, sustainability - yes. There is still a lot of work to be done, but I know that we can get it done. So, thank you very much. Mr. Beiter: Thank you, as well. We will move to item number seven, except for filing, does not look like we have anything on the agenda this evening and with item number eight, announcements, the next regularly scheduled City Councilman will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 7 PM at trade in transit two which is just next door. The only comment that I'll make is that I am looking forward to another excellent year with all of you. Thank you, very much.
