Village of Williamsville Beautification Committee Meeting Agenda May 9, 2023, at 1:00pm at Village Hall, 5565 Main St. New member, Lori Schonrank, appointed by Village Board on May 8, 2023. Welcome! BEAUTIFICATION - Deb Habes Garden Priorities: Status • Mural Plaque - wording, design and purchase of plaque for Mural Wall • Garden Name Signage – Garden Name signage: Heritage Garden of 1812 and Pocket Park’s Mural Garden • Garden art for the Pocket Park's Mural Garden • Garden Trellises for PP BEAUTIFICATION REQUESTS FOR DPW – BLACK MULCH ON ALL 3 GARDENS AND the following: (These have been shared with Trustee Lowther and Ben V. of the DPW. Ben V. has responded that he will get to them as time allows) Pocket Park • Creation of Trellis Garden - Re-locate all rose bushes to the east side of the garden on library wall. • Re-paint the iron patio tables and chairs. • Add a variety of found landscape boulders for more landscape interest • Installation of cast metal mural plaque on brick mural wall once plaque is completed • Sinking into concrete of any iron garden art purchase(s) • Installation of garden boulders with attached cast metal Garden Name plaques in 1812 and Mural Garden • Installation of metal garden trellis(es) with spacers to library wall once purchased (once permission is rec’d from TOA for attachment) Heritage Garden of 1812 • Removal of the perimeter material (cobblestones) and replacement with a non-permeable material OR THICK Layer of mulch on entire perimeter and north point from basin north. • Fill in the stone basin with planting soil to create a raised bed for planting with perennials • Status of replacement tree with a species as chosen as best by Ben and Tree Board GARDEN REPORTS - Captains' reports; garden needs and deeds • Heritage Garden of 1812 – Melissa • Pocket Park Mural Garden – Deb Planting Day is June 4, 10a-12p in Pocket Park. • PP – ALL globe arborvitae were all removed by DPW on May 1. New overall landscaping plan to be considered and developed. • Memory Garden – Myra and Ramona - Maypole erected! • Top o’ the Glen Garden – (mulch to be requested thru GPJB) Garden Cleanup scheduled for 5/10/23, 10-12. Dian/Elise Purchase of Plants for summer 2023: Preliminary Plant order being developed and will place mid-May with nursery. Plan a pick-up date. GARDEN WALK 2023 – July 15 & July 16 – Dian • Sign Up: Tent Time, Poster Placement, Host sign distribution / pick up • 4 Gardens are confirmed for GWW’23 and one free lemonade stand at the Hampton Inn on Main Street. • Top of the Glen, Mural Park, 1812 and Memory (Add Meeting House?) are also scheduled for viewing on the map. • Re-sent Host Gardener letters and registration forms to 23 previous hosts last week. I will resend on a regular basis until the deadline Friday, June 9. • Sent an email to Amherst Senior center requesting volunteers to play music for July 15 & 16. • Arrange with DPW for set up/breakdown equipment needs and dates, location of tent, etc. • Status of Garden Stakes – Ramona and Myra Status of Slated Priority Purchases with funds from GWW donations: 1. Metal trellis(es) for new Trellis Garden in Pocket Park (against library brick wall) – Deb (HPotter.com) 2. Mural plaque – Deb and Melissa (Tony Martin Trophy) 3. Garden Name signage - Deb 4. Slate plant markers – Deb to order 5. This is in addition to weekly garden maintenance) June 4 – PLANTING DAY at Pocket Park, 10am-Noon July 15 & 16 – Garden Walk Williamsville July 19 – Private Twilight Garden Tour (only for GWW workers/garden hosts). 6pm-9pm August 12-20 – Secret Garden Scavenger Hunt. August 22 (tentative date) – Beautification/GWW Garden Party at Garrison Park Gazebo October 10 (rain date 11) – Fall bulb planting and garden cleanup. 10am-Noon December 12 – Dutch Treat Holiday Lunch @ Eagle House.
