Life's Just Better Here City of Wilton Manors Community Mfairs Advisory Board Meeting Minutes WEDNESDAY, March 4, 2020 • CALL TO ORDER: Bill Desautels called the March 4, 2020 CAAB meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. tn the City Commission Chambers. • PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Bill led the Pledge of Allegiance . • ROLL CALL: Liaison/ Secretary Johnnie Goodnight shared emails received from Ciatta Thompson notifying the City of her resignation from CAAB due to moving out of the City, and from Liz Vocasek with notice that she would not be at tonight's meeting. Johnnie took roll call: Bill Desautels, Robert Hadley, Bryan Wilson, Barbara Clabaugh, and Michael Sansevero were present. Liz Vocasek was absent. Bill commented on the passing of Mayor Flippen. • ADDITIONS/CHANGES /DELETIONS T O AGENDA: The agenda was approved as written . • PRESENTATIONS/SPONSORSHIP REQUESTS: Johnnie reported that he received an email from Dr. Lopes stating that she needed to reschedule the World AIDS Museum's update on their CAAB sponsorship - no new date was provided. WMEG representatives Joshua Gordon, Tony Taha, and Jamie Forsythe were in attendance to support their $1,000 sponsorship request for the new WMEG Wilton Manors Sculpture Walk program and provided a description of the concept to exhibit leased sculptures in various city locations. Bill referred to the current CAAB financial statement and noted concern with sponsoring another WMEG event. Bryan made the motion to approve the $1,000 sponsorship request, seconded by Barbara, the motion carried. Budget is available in the contingency fund balance. • APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MEETINGS OF FEBRUARY 5. 2020: The minutes of the February 5, 2020 meeting were approved unanimously. • U PDATE FROM CITY LIAISON: The current CAAB Financial Statement was presented with no changes from prior month. Johnnie noted that Kathy Black with AARP will be meeting with him at City Hall on Thursday, March 12 at 10a.m. to discuss Wilton Manors' progress and future steps in the Age-Friendly Community initiative and invited CAAB members to attend; Bill stated that he would attend this meeting. Johnnie called attention to the new Town Crier articles on the call for nominations for the Skip Stadnik Community Spirit Awards on page 24, and the City Board openings piece on page 27. • UPDATE FROM CHAIR: Bill identified Vice Mayor Tom Green and Commissioner Paul Rolli - both in attendance; and read a thank you note from WMPD Chief Paul O'Connell for CAAB's sponsorship of the "Shop With A Cop" event. • PU BLIC COMMENTS: None. • UNFINISHED BUSINESS: a.) Age-Friendly Community Action Plan- Senior Resource Guide. The latest versions of the guide were reviewed- one had the cover photo small and centered at the top and the other had it spread across the entire top section behind the guide title. The Board preferred the version with the small photo not behind the title; Michael Sansevero made the motion to approve this version and move forward with publication in the Town Crier, seconded by Robert, the motion carried unanimously. b.) Skip Stadnik Community Spirit Awards- the Town Crier article was viewed. Nominations will be due by March 31 sr for review/ selection in the April CAAB meeting. FINAL CAAB Meeting Minutes -1- Adopted: June 4, 2020 March 4, 2020 Meeting • NEW BUSINESS: None. • COMMUNICATION TO COMMISSION: Bill noted items for the next Commission Update: the Senior Resource Guide update and the "I am Wilton Manors" project.
