City of Wilton Manors Community Affairs Advisory Board Meeting Minutes WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2023 ▪ CALL TO ORDER: Robert Hadley called the December 6, 2023 CAAB meeting to order at 7:00p.m. in the City Commission Chambers. ▪ PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: Robert asked Commissioner Rolli to lead the Pledge of Allegiance. ▪ ROLL CALL: Johnnie took roll call: Robert Hadley, Curtis Fedder, Justin Gladney, Glenn Jenkins, Marc Marois and Gene Stinson were present. Johnnie reported that he received an email of resignation from CAAB member Scott Ballina. ▪ ADDITIONS/CHANGES/DELETIONS TO AGENDA: The agenda was accepted as written. ▪ UPDATE FROM CHAIR: Robert welcomed everyone to the meeting. ▪ UPDATE FROM CITY LIAISON: Johnnie reported that he sent the 2023/2024 CAAB Accomplishments/Goals document (approved by the Board in the November meeting) to the City Clerk’s Office; nomination forms for Black History Month and Women’s History Month were uploaded to the City’s website, linked in the CAAB Town Crier article, and will be in next week’s City eNews. Past honoree lists were sent out to CAAB members and Jameer Baptiste as requested in the November meeting. Johnnie provided Board members with a CAAB meeting/events calendar. ▪ PRESENTATIONS/SPONSORSHIP REQUESTS: None. ▪ APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 8, 2023: The minutes were approved. ▪ PUBLIC COMMENTS: Commissioner Paul Rolli was in attendance however there were no public comments. ▪ UNFINISHED BUSINESS: a.) Accomplishments/Goals – review goal listing/community outreach goal and possibly calendarize attendance at various meetings/events. Johnnie shared a meeting/events calendar; members volunteered to attend upcoming Neighborhood Association Meetings and report back to CAAB: Gene: CANA on January 10; Glenn: ENA on January 18; and Robert: WAWM on January 24. b.) Holiday Lighting Ceremony – CAAB to lead pledge of allegiance in tomorrow night’s event at 6:30p.m. Robert encouraged everyone to attend and wear red CAAB shirts. ▪ NEW BUSINESS: a.) Black/Women’s History Months honorees – Robert noted the CAAB article in the Town Crier calling for nominations; Black History Month nominations are due December 31 and will be reviewed in the January CAAB meeting with the creation of a Commission recommendation of honorees. Women’s History Month nominations are due January 31, 2024 and will be reviewed in the February CAAB meeting. b.) CAAB Vice Chair position – Johnnie noted that Scott’s resignation leaves the position of Vice Chair open. Curtis volunteered to fill this role which was approved by unanimous vote. ▪ BOARD MEMBER REPORTS AND REQUEST FOR AGENDA ITEMS: Robert reported that he attended the December 1st AIDS vigil although it was poorly attended; discussion of assisting with promotion efforts next year.
