WILTON SALES AND USE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES APRIL 24, 2024 The meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM at the Wilton Memorial Hall. Present were: Duane Johnson, Ben Schaffer, Bob Ell, Myron Basaraba. Fund Balances as of 3/31/2024: Capitol $185,624.51 City Park $21,097.69 Economic $158,676.76 Emergency $126,511.58 Infrastructure $99,740.12 Total $691,650.66 Request for funds read by Duane Johnson. Request from the City of Wilton for $$87,870.00 to replace the roof on the Memorial Hall-current roof is over 50 years old and needs improvement. Ben Schaffer motioned to deny until research done for a pitched roof. Bob Ell seconded the motion. Discussion was the overall cost to replace and concerns over extra cost if something happens, only guaranteed for 15 years, more information on the disclaimers in the contract and what would be the cost of a pitched roof. Vote on motion DJ/MB/BE/BS yah. Motion passed 2nd request for funds read by Duane Johnson. Request from the City of Wilton for $10,000 to help fund the Wilton 125th Celebration, July 12-14 2024. Ben Schaffer motioned to approve the $10,000 dollars for the Celebration. Bob Ell seconded the motion. Discussion was about next time breaking it out a little better so we could see more of what the funding will be spent on but understanding the need to get things ordered was important as well. Voted on Motion DJ/MB/BE/BS yah. Motion passed It was agreed funds would come out of CAPITOL. Bob Ell motioned to adjourn and Myron Basaraba seconded the motion. Motion Passed.
