NOTICE AND CALL OF PUBLIC MEETING Government Body: Winterset Municipal Utilities Date of Meeting: June 17th, 2024 Time of Meeting: 8:30 A.M. Place of Meeting: Electric Generation Plant, 321 N. 1st St. PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN the above-mentioned governmental body will meet at the date, time and place above set out. Claims Added items for discussion… The Board of Trustees of the Winterset Municipal Utilities, Winterset, Iowa, met on June 17th, 2024, in accordance with the above Notice & Call of Public Meeting. Chairman Wendy Frost called the meeting to order with the following Members of the Board in attendance. PRESENT: Steve Montross, Wendy Frost, Gary Emmert ABSENT: None Others in attendance, Mike Ham, Utility Water Superintendent, Chuck Johnson, Utility Electric Superintendent, Ryan Marquardt. Chairman Frost asked for approval of the agenda. Trustee Emmert moved the agenda to be approved. Seconded by Trustee Montross. On a voice vote the motion carried. Chairman Frost stated the minutes from the May 20th, 2024, meeting had been provided to the Board. Trustee Emmert moved to approve the minutes. Seconded by Trustee Montross. On a voice vote the motion carried. Mr. Benshoof was asked to give his report to the Board. Mr. Benshoof reported that he is working on software upgrades to give customers more online payment options. Mr. Benshoof stated that the new utility billing coordinator has been hired. Mr. Benshoof reported that $41,900 has been received from the State of Iowa Setoff Program for delinquent utility bills. Chairman Frost asked for a report on the MCDG. Mr. Marquardt reported on his monthly activities and discussed possible development opportunities with the Board. Mr. Benshoof was asked to address the next agenda item. Mr. Benshoof discussed the current conditions of the boat docks at Cedar Lake. Mr. Benshoof discussed plans to upgrade the docks and reported that there may be grant opportunities to help fund the dock replacements. After discussion, the Board advised Mr. Benshoof to pursue the grant opportunity with assistance from Park and Rec and SICOG. Mr. Ham was asked to give his report on the Water Department. Mr. Ham reported that they have repaired six hydrants. Mr. Ham stated that nitrates in the raw water have increased with the recent rainfall and have been running both reverse osmosis trains to keep finished water nitrates well below EPA standards. Mr. Ham reported that Casey Fiber has finished hooking up new phone lines. Mr. Ham stated that they have been treating the lake weekly for algae control. Mr. Ham discussed recent PFAS testing results in the finished water. Mr. Ham reported that all results were under detectable limits and will continue to test for PFAS quarterly. Mr. Johnson was asked to give his report on the Electric Department. Mr. Johnson reported that they spent three days in Greenfield helping to restore power after the tornado. Mr. Johnson reported that they helped the Street Department with tree cleanup. Mr. Johnson stated that they have been working on IUB inspections. Mr. Johnson stated that they have started installing underground electricity from the Water Plant to the rental house. Mr. Johnson discussed a couple of recent power outages. Trustee Montross stated that he had reviewed the claims. Trustee Montross moved to approve the following list of claims. Seconded by Trustee Emmert.
