Winthrop Board or Committee Fire House Building Committee (FHBC) Meeting Minutes Feb. 3, 2025 Chair Fire Chief Wiley calls Town Council Meeting to order at 6:00 PM in the Harvey Hearing Room ROLL CALL Present: Scott Wiley, Karin Chavis, Jim Letterie, Joseph Hanlon, Stephen Calandra, Kim Dimes, Paul Flanagan, Jill Dorr Shannon Poulos. Honorary Member: Richard Bangs Absent: Marc Wallerce PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE PUBLIC COMMENT None NEW BUSINESS Town Clerk Denise Quist swears in new members. Motion by Jim Letterie to appoint Jill Dorr as Clerk to the Fire House Building Committee 2nd by Karin Chavis Passed Unanimously Motion by Jim Letterie to appoint Karin Chavis as Co-Chair to the Fire House Building Committee 2nd by Kim Dimes Passed Unanimously Presentation: Presentation by Larry Trimm and Eric Royce from Kaestle Boos (Michael McKeon via Zoom) introduces a power point presentation of the future site and building of the Fire Station This can be viewed on the Fire Station Website Committee members discussed April 5, 2025, election date which is on a Saturday from 7Am to 8PM Discussion of the difference between a Debt Exclusion and an Override Costs of the Debt Exclusion and an explanation of when and how this will affect the taxpayers. If the vote is approved, this will not come into effect for the taxpayers until FY27. Based on the average home, costs would be approx. $445 per year. Continued discussion on the Fire Station and Mission Statement of this Committee. Discussion on a new Re-Use Committee to discuss the old fire stations. Discussion of the first election of the Fire Station and all in agreement, the residents were not happy with the location offered at this time.
