Kathleen Korbholz of Friends of Edgewood Park, described to the Committee the 467-acre Park and Natural Preserve which was
established in 1993. There are 560 different species in the park, including an endangered butterfly, birds, plants and mammals. She
would like to present the history of the park at a future First Friday.
Approve Minutes: February 9, 2023: Minutes were approved as presented.
Old Business:
1. Review March Event – The March First Friday headlining Tyler and Rowan MacNiven, owners of Buck’s
Restaurant was described as “fun” and “spectacular”. The presentation was lively and informative. Tyler
would be happy to return to a future First Friday and relay the history of the MacNiven family.
2. Sign Up for April Live Event – The sign-up sheet for the April First Friday – (in person! ) was passed to the
committee members. Committee discussed how to safely provide snacks and drinks to our audience. Popcorn
in bags, brownies with toothpicks and poured drinks will be provided. Set up will begin at 6:15P.M.
3. Public Questionnaire Results – Survey Monkey survey was emailed to 300 recipients. The committee
decided to have future live events that will be posted on YouTube. This is the most efficient and effective use
of volunteer time. There will be some transitioning of future events. Jim Salyard’s September presentation
will be via video. Jessica will not be able to attend the September event but will be asked if she has an idea for
a replacement videographer. The survey results are attached.
New Business:
4. Town inquiry about purchasing paintings – Town received a proposal to purchase several paintings of the
Mein Family home. It was decided it was not in the mission statement of the Art and Culture Committee to
purchase such artwork. That this would be better for the Historical Society to review. Lisa Keith has a
Sotheby’s contact that can help value the art if needed. No further action currently.
5. Confirm Edgewood Park for August – A motion was presented to have the Friends of Edgewood Park
present Park history at the August First Friday. It was passed unanimously.
6. Review calendar – Zeny Cieslowski will apply to present a photographic history of Presidents and Vice
Presidents starting with President Eisenhower.
