Town of Woodside 2955 Woodside Road Woodside, CA 94062 Woodside Livestock and Equestrian Heritage Committee June 28, 2023 5:30 pm Via Zoom or In Person at Independence Hall – 2955 Woodside Road Teleconference Location: John Matheny 1440 Lanny Lane Olympic Valley, CA 96146 Final Minutes Call to Order: 5:35 PM Roll Call: Kristina Chancholo, Fentress Hall, Philip Bellamy, Lexi Bartlo, Diane Garcia, Melinda Stoker, Sharon Butler, Nancy Atkinson, Susie Dorsey Zoom: John Matheny Guests: Melissa Cardinale Public Communications: Persons wishing to address the Committee on any appropriate subjects are invited to do so. Please note, however, that the Committee is not able to undertake extended discussion or to act on non-agenda items. Such items can be referred to staff for appropriate action, which may include placement on a future agenda. As a courtesy to others, the communications should be kept to a three-minute limit. Approval of Minutes from May 24, 2023. Lexi Bartlo motioned to approve and Melinda Stoker 2nd. All voted yes. Old Business: 1. Safety Projects – Continue discussion of or updates on existing issues and town operations a. Further action to inform trail users on process for reporting improper parking. Why aren’t more yield signs parked on Woodside trails? b. Further action to inform improperly parked vehicles. Volunteers for TOW may not put items on vehicles. Volunteers are instructed to take photos of the vehicles parked on the equestrian/pedestrian trails and send them to TOW. Additionally, they may call the non-emergency line for the Sheriff. Members talked about more signage. What about portable signs for no parking on the trails. It was suggested to use cylinder holders for signs that are orange and weighted so they won’t blow over and spook the horses. Melissa will ask TOW. The Circulation Committee is in charge of safety so Melissa will talk to Sean Rose and get back to the Circulation Committee. Sharon Butler will put an article in the SMCHA magazine quarterly. Sharon asked if there is a mailer about parking given to residents. 2. Educational Projects – Discussion of or updates on existing projects related to public outreach such as signage, website, booklets, publications. Fentress asked Melissa if she could find the binders for the bibliography “Keeping Horses In Woodside.” Members of LEHC should look at chapters that interest them and add new and relevant notes and updates. Fentress has an interest in the chapter about arenas. Philip suggested that there be a chapter on “Bio Security” which will focus on virus outbreaks, quarantine, health checks for the traveling and non-traveling horse etc. Philip will write this chapter in a polite, friendly, and informative manner. A chapter on “Fire Safety” was suggested as well. a. New projects? Keep this on the agenda as well as reviewing “Keeping Horses In Woodside.” b. New subcommittee projects (Public Outreach/Safety and Facilities)? New Business: 1. Election of Chair and Vice Chair – Co-Chair, Co-Vice Chair Recruiting. Nancy made a motion for Fentress Hall to be Chair and John Matheny to be Vice Chair. John 2nd. All voted yes. 2. Report/discuss Mayor meeting of committee heads. It was suggested that we should have a community event equestrian calendar. Kristina Chancholo mentioned that at one point before COVID SHCHA was managing an equestrian event calendar for all the equestrian groups. Sharon will follow up on that. John and Fentress will make a to do list for feedback on the meeting.
