Approval of Minutes from June 28, 2023. Approved by Diane Garcia & 2nd by Melinda Stoker Old Business: 1. Health and Safety Sub-Committee. Brown Act was brought up and Kevin Bryant will have Melissa report back on the sub-committees and their duration. Do they need to regroup every 6 months or so? Fentress reported that the purposes for appointing two “enduring” sub-committees are 1) to encourage developing proposals on complex projects for approval by full committee and 2) to allow reaction to urgent situations in the field. a. Mission Statement: To develop guidelines and consult in the field on environmental conditions affecting livestock. Examples are: stabling conditions (existing and proposed), excessive heat, fire evacuation, communicable diseases, hazards on the trails. The leader is Diane Garcia. 2. Public Outreach Sub-Committee: Continuing discussion on existing issues related to educational projects such as signage, website, publications, accomplishments of local equestrians. a. Mission Statement: To professionally develop and prepare for publications on various materials to inform and educate. Examples are: “Keeping Horses in  Woodside,” news items for publication, signage to support Town goals, visual aids, website. b. Leaders. No leaders have been decided yet. c. Status of revisions to booklet- Keeping Horses in Woodside. Meredith asked about synthesizing all codes and regulations for building a barn because everything lives everywhere. Regulations for Town vs Building & Planning should all be in one place. LEHC needs to update the toolbox. 3. Member communications: Melinda asked about the triangle yield signs for horse safety and the possibility of collaborating with the Trails Committee to get information on more signage. John reported back from attending the Trails Committee meeting that they are structured very similarly to LEHC. They (Trails Committee) have more discussion about finances compared to LEHC. John informed them of the name change in LEHC from “equestrian” to “equine” and it was well received. Easements, crosswalks, trail safety & maintenance, and further defining the easement locations were all discussed. New Business: 1. Day of The Horse: Kristina reported that the event was a success with lots of happy attendees and participants. The top 12 pieces from the youth art show will be made into a calendar, Saturday’s ride and after party was fun, and the horse fair and pony rides were very well received by the public! 2. Recruiting: Meredith Wiedeman was welcomed to LEHC 3. November meeting will happen if there is a quorum. Then meetings will resume in January after a break in December.
