Town of Woodside 2955 Woodside Road Woodside, CA 94062 Woodside Livestock & Equine Heritage Committee January 24, 2024 5:30 pm Final Meeting Minutes Call to Order: 5:31 pm by Chair Pro Tem John Matheny Roll Call: Present: Diane Garcia, Lexi Bartlo, Susie Dorsey, Melinda Stoker, Meredith Wiedeman, John Matheny, Kristina Chancholo, Philip Bellamy Absent: Fentress Hall, Nancy Atkinson, Sharon Butler Guest: Melissa Cardinale Town: Dick Brown Trails Committee: Anne Van Camp Public Communications: Anne Van Camp spoke about Spirit, the fiberglass horse, being moved from Town property. Approval of Minutes from November 22, 2023. Susie Dorsey approved and Diane Garcia 2nd Old Business: 1. Health and Safety– Report from Subcommittee. Continuing discussion on existing issues and town operations such as improper parking on trails, stabling, environmental impact on livestock. Melissa will ask Sage about potentially coming to our LEHC meeting about us providing feedback on the barns that are up for review by the subcommittee. Lexi provided some history about the planning & building committee seeking out the guidance of the LEHC committee to sort out what plans are barns or “barns.” a. Meeting with town on guidelines for parking on trails, pending new staff. Melissa will follow up next meeting AGENDA FOR NEXT MEETING: Spirit was removed from Town property per the request of the Town because one member of the public complained. What will happen with Spirit next? 2. Public Outreach – Report from Subcommittee. Continuing discussion on existing issues related to educational projects such as signage, website, publications, accomplishments of local equestrians. a. Status of revisions to booklet – Keeping Horses in Woodside. The chapters are being revised & added. b. Concept for adding FAQ proposed. Being worked on. c. Charter Approved by Town Council on January 9, 2024. Town Council approved the charter and name change for LEHC to Livestock & Equine Heritage Committee. d. Revision of Town of Woodside website timeline and format guidelines. New Town website launches February 5, 2024. We can submit high quality photos. The Subcommittee can provide new or revised content, the committee will approve it. New Business: 1. Review Committee’s 2023 Year-End Summary. The committee reviewed and provided feedback. Member Communications 1. Report from Trails Committee meeting. Diane Garcia was supposed to attend but was out of town. The Trails Committee didn’t meet in December because they didn’t have a quorum. January report by Lexi Bartlo and reported that they discussed having a TC volunteer attending the LEHC meeting as well. Anne Van Camp from TC attended today’s LEHC meeting. *Volunteers for the next Trails Committee meeting: Feb 8th at 3:00 pm Diane Garcia, March 14th Melinda Stoker, April 11th Lexi Bartlo. The Livestock and Equine Heritage Committee may take action on any item listed in the agenda. Agenda Call to Order Roll Call (Five members in attendance required for a quorum) Public Communications: Persons wishing to address the Committee on any appropriate subjects are invited to do so. Please note, however, that the Committee is not able to undertake extended discussion or to act on non-agenda items. Such items can be referred to staff for appropriate action, which may include placement on a future agenda. As a courtesy to others, the communications should be kept to a three-minute limit.
