Approval of Minutes from April 24, 2024. Susan Dorsey moved to approve the minutes
and Lexi Bartlo 2nd. All approved.
Old Business:
1. Health and Safety– Report from Subcommittee. Continuing discussion on
existing issues and town operations such as improper parking on trails, stabling,
environmental impact on livestock. HSS met with property owner at 1034
Canada Rd and approved their plans for the barn. HSS submitted their review
formally to Keigo.
a. Meet with Town Engineer on guidelines for parking on trails. Consider joint
project with the Trails Committee. Still considering working jointly.
b. Discuss coordination with San Mateo Horsemen’s Association and others
regarding evacuation. Action item- reach out to SMCHA and LAEG and
ask how we can help or if there is something they need from us (LEHC).
Melissa will find out if the Woodside Fire District uses/endorses LAEG and
if the Town can recommend them. Melissa will ask if LEHC may
recommend equestrian groups and organizations in our material,
website etc. Will the Town be responsible is something goes wrong? Is it
ok to reference these groups but not recommend?
2. Public Outreach – Report from Subcommittee. Continuing discussion on
existing issues related to educational projects such as signage, website,
publications, accomplishments of local equestrians.
a. Status of “Keeping Horses in Woodside” booklet revisions. Fentress and
John have met and reviewed content.
b. Status of “navigating the building process” FAQ
3. Staffing and recruiting. There is 1 opening for a term that expires February 2026
New Business:
1. Review “Analysis of Stable Permit Data” as provided by Town. Fentress and John
reviewed the paperwork. This data said how many horses on which streets
combining privately owned horses and stabling barns. Staff produced this data.
POS wants to find a way to reach out to stable owners to see how many horses
are actually here so we have a better idea for evacuation etc. This could be a
collaboration between the Trail Committee and LEHC.
Member Communications
1. Reports from LEHC members regarding other committees. Lexi went to the April
Trails Committee and they express an interest in working with LEHC on the issue
of parking and signage. HSS and Yaz could meet and collaborate on the parking
issue.
2. Reports from LEHC members regarding community equestrian organizations
and activities. Day of The Horse! 20th anniversary this year on October 11, 12, and
13th. Thursday June 20th 4:30-6PM Volunteer Engagement Fair. John, Lexi, and
possibly Susan can attend and represent LEHC. We discussed Folger Stable and
the current situation with the concessionaire.
Thursday June 13th Trails Committee meeting Susan Dorsey will attend 3-5PM.
Meeting Adjourned: Lexi moved we adjourn and Susan 2nd. All in favor.
