The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, October 21, at
6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK.
Roll Call: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman

Absent: Joe Baumann

Others Present: Jan Scott (Zoom), Quincy Rinkle,
Andrea Griffin
Visitors: Mayor Shelli Selby (Zoom), Claudia Krshka and Tim Rhodes
Visitors Business: Claudia Krshka, City Grant Writer, made a report on the
50/50 approved grant to refurbish Freedom Trail Playground
that was granted to the City of Yukon this year. There is a
discount on the playground equipment, if purchased by
October 30, 2020. The City’s portion $174,945.09.
Tim Rhodes discussed youth softball leagues and the
tournaments doing well. It would be a benefit if Yukon can
keep girls softball going, since now most girls are going to
Mustang. This was stated by Jason Hammett.
Item 1: Approval of the minutes for September 16, 2020
Jason Hammett moved to approve the minutes from September 16, 2020. Stephen Nelson
seconded the motion.
The vote: Ayes: Edwards, Nelson, and Hammett
Nays: None
The Vote: 3-0
Motion Carried
Item 2: Sports Leagues Updates
Jan Scott discussed that 3-4 year old indoor soccer is not as popular as indoor T-ball.
Quincy said flag football is doing well with about 200 kids registered, along with fall baseball
and the Community Center parking lot is packed. Basketball is not happening this year due to
Covid.

Stephen Nelson reported soccer is in full swing with over 500 recreational and 360
competitive leagues. 260-280 kids practice and play at Taylor Park.
Item 3: Council Recommendations
The two city owned tennis courts are to be repaired and painted and markings for pickle ball
courts will create four pickle ball courts on two tennis courts. Bids have been received. A
request for a price on a surge protector for the splashpad was given under $700. Jan stated a
4 amp surge protector will be enough to cover the splashpad at Sunrise.
Item 4: Fall Events/program reports
We will be moving a portion of the Spooksville carnival outside. This will allow better social
distancing and everyone must wear masks,(masks will be provided) There will be hand
sanitizer stations along with individual bottles of sanitizer at each game. Staff will wear masks
and gloves at all times. Mummy & Son will have two sessions to allow staff to disinfect all
areas being used and split the number of people attending into two events. The Spooky Sr.
Social will also have mandatory masks and sanitizer.
Pumpkin Harvest Craft Festival will still take place on a scaled down booth count, to allow
social distancing with mandatory masks and sanitizer stations. Food & coffee trucks will be
outside.
We’ll have our opening for the 25th Annual Christmas in the Park with the 5K Chill Run, Jingle
Walk, Live Entertainment, Prize Give-a-ways and an ice skating rink starting on November
21st.
We also will have Mayor’s Christmas Party on Dec 5th at the Dale Robertson Center.
Item 5: Staff Reports
New staff members are working out well and have great new ideas. Jan said we lost one, Tim
Thomsen from YCC who went to OKC Park & Recreation.
Item 7: Open Discussion
Stephen Nelson said he is sad to hear Jim Crosby is leaving in January. Thank You and
great job to Yukon Park & Recreation staff for continually working hard during this difficult
Covid & quarantine season that he hopes will soon be over.
Jason Hammett is glad to hear new ideas and grateful for the parks and staff city has.
Joe Edwards thanked Mayor Selby for sitting in on meeting. He’s happy to be a part the
Board and appreciates staff and hard work.
