The City of Yukon Park Board met for their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 18, 2022,
6:00 p.m. at the Huckaba Bldg., 532 W. Main, Yukon, OK.
Roll Call : (Present) Joe Baumann, Ward 4
Stephen Nelson, Ward 2
Jason Hammett- At Large
Absent: Joe Edwards, Cathy Wright
Others Present: Chris Lucas, Andrea Griffin
Item 1: Approval of the minutes Wednesday, May 18, 2022
Stephen Nelson moved to approve the minutes from May 18, 2022, Jason Hammett
seconded the motion.
The vote: Ayes: Baumann, Nelson and Hammett
Nays: None
The Vote 3-0

Item 2: Parks and Recreation Department Reports and Project Updates
Director Chris Lucas was happy to report spring is winding down and numerous summer
activities are about to begin. Both of our brochures, Summer Programs and Aquatics are
online and available at our facilities.
Jackie Cooper Gym
Staff will be busy with increased numbers in their various classes such as PE, tumbling and
water wars. Among new possibilities are Youth Pickle Ball and archery.
Coed and men’s competitive basketball and badminton are also offered.
No active projects are currently being done.
Yukon Community Center
New classes will be offered such as sewing, S.T.E.A.M., Lego Craze, Pokemon Go in the
Park along with favorites such as cookie or cake decorating, Family Craft Night, Kids Night
Out. Staff getting geared up for 8 weeks of Summer Camp (9:00-4:00), also offering before
(7:00-9:00) and after-hours care (4:00-6:00)
The ongoing project of developing more storage space and getting estimates to take out
cinder blocks.

Dale Robertson Center
Seniors are enjoying their Monday-Friday lunches, programs and special events such as
Ladies Tea with 65 in attendance. Upcoming events will be Senior Health & Fitness Day
along with Field trips to the State Capital and Pugh Gardens.
Continued game room improvements are happening.
Special Operations
Festival of the Child had 57 vendors participate, 1,750 bracelets were sold, off of record by
45. The Community Bike Ride will be May 28th at 9:00 a.m., it will start at Yukon Police
Station and end at Yukon City Splash Pool for patrons to enjoy early pool opening celebrating
summer 2022.
Concerts in the Park will start on June 2nd, Friday Fundays on June 3rd, Youth Baseball has
about 2 weeks left. Currently Fall baseball and NFL leagues signups are open.
Our Aquatics facilities, City Splash Pool, Kimbell Bay Pool and Sunrise Splash Pad will be
open May 28th with the first 50 kids at Kimbell’s Grand Opening will receive sunglasses. We
offer swim classes from tots to adults and special needs along with our water aerobics&
fitness and children’s Dolphin Swim Team.
On April 28, Chris was able to speak over an hour to the Yukon Capitol Project Advisory
Board, presenting various possibilities and facts regarding to new aquatics and
multigenerational facilities.
Item 3: Open Discussion
Stephen Nelson excited about both pools and splash pad opening soon. Excited about so
many new programs being offered and able to discuss fresh ideas, trying new things. Family
looking forward to summer.
Jason Hammett happy things are back to normal with attendance and looking forward to
summer.
Joe Baumann excited for thinking outside the box with fresh ideas and at least trying new
programs. Looking forward to the many upcoming events
