Park Board Yukon Park Board Minutes March 15 th at 6 p.m. The Yukon Park Board met in regular session at 6:00pm on Wednesday, March 15th, at the Dale Robertson Center, 1200 Lakeshore Drive, Yukon, Oklahoma 73099. I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Joe Edwards, Chairman – Ward 1. II. Roll Call ROLL CALL: (Present) Joe Baumann – Vice Chairman Stephen Nelson – Ward 2 OTHERS PRESENT: Casey Barnett, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Kelley, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director III. Visitors/Special Guests/Public Comments There were no public comments. IV. Approval of the minutes from February 15 , 2023 The board began with reading of the minutes from the February meeting. Joe Baumann moved that they accept the minutes as written, Stephen Nelson seconded. Passed. Joe Edwards wondered why the committee wasn’t involved in the color decision of the new park. Bryan and Casey did confirm that it did look good. V. Parks and Recreation Department Report and Project Update Joe Edwards asked about staffing. He was updated on Special Events, DRC and Aquatics. 1. Projects a. Welch Park Disc Golf Course a. Ribbon cutting/grand opening event in March or early April. b. DRC Partition Wall a. Installation was completed on 3/10 c. Freedom Trail Playground and Splashpad 1. Groundbreaking ceremony took place on 3/7 d. Baseball a. Batting cages have been installed (1 large, 1 large divided into 2 cages), putting some finishing touches on them before grand opening. b. Baseball backstops were replaced. e. City Park and Kimbell Park Tennis/Pickleball courts a. Merritt Tennis and Tracks systems were approved for tennis court and fencing projects f. Aquatic facilities a. $37,492 in capital funds; orders are being placed for these projects 1. Rock wall 2. Pool paint 3. Lane lines 4. Actuator for chair lift 5. Splashpad concrete repairs 6. Program and safety supplies g. YCC Parking Lot restriping and lights 2. Special Events a. Trout Fishout Recap a. 500 in attendance b. Quite a few trout caught c. Race around the pond, casting contest d. Vendors (Bass Pro, Department of Wildlife) b. Upcoming Special Events a. Taste of Yukon – March 23rd currently @ 18 vendors b. Pancake appreciates and summer showcase event i. 44 signed up h. Spirit League i. Bowling - 23 i. Young Discovery Classes going well with a lot of sign-ups i. Artists, Cooking, PE, Photography j. Life Skills for Teens i. 20 signed up a. In the process of finalizing summer programs VI. Conclusion The board is looking forward to the Taste of Yukon. Stephen Nelson stated good job and pleased with seeing so many at baseball practice fields at Taylor Park. VII. Date & time of next meeting: Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Mary Huckaba Building at 532 West Main Street in Yukon . Joe Edward announced the date, time, and location of the meeting. VIII.
