Park Board Yukon Park Board Minutes December 18, 2024 The Yukon Park Board met in regular session at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18th, at the Mary Huckaba Building, 532 West Main Street, Yukon, Oklahoma 73099. I. Call to Order Joe Edwards, Chairman – Ward 1, called the meeting to order. II. Roll Call ROLL CALL: (Present) Joe Edwards, Chairman – Ward 1 Joe Baumann, Vice Chairman – Ward 4 Tim Rhodes – At Large Carrie Sharp – Ward 3 OTHERS PRESENT: Ryan McClure, Parks and Recreation Director Ashley Geddes, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Kelley, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Kahlil Garner, Office Coordinator III. Visitors/Special Guests/Public Comments None IV. Approval of the minutes from November 20, 2024 The board began by reading the minutes from the November 20th meeting. Carrie Sharp made the motion, and Joe Baumann seconded. Passed. V. Parks and Recreation Department Report and Project Update City of Yukon | P. O. Hilcrest Playground – Gathering three quotes, $50K designated to spend by the City Council 2. 25-26 FY Budget planning begins soon 3. Athletics a. Basketball i. Basketball season began earlier this month at JCG ii. 47 teams – 470 kids b. Softball i. Mid-March start date c. Baseball/t-ball i. March start date 4. Special Events a. Christmas in the Park i. Opening Night – 6600 in attendance 1. Mascot Dash – Sparky from the fire department won a. Chisholm waving the checkered flag 2. Chill Your Cheeks 5K – 447 participants 3. Kringle Karnival 4. Jingle Walk 5. Ice Castle 6. Drone Show – 100 drones ii. Cars 1. 26,000 through Chisholm Trail Park as of 12/16 2. 21,000 through YCC as of 12/16 iii. Train Rides 1. 13,000 train rides through 12/16 b. Mayor’s Great Christmas Quest i. Scavenger hunt for Christmas displays and characters ii. Grand Prize – Nintendo Switch c. Upcoming Events i. Sounds of the Season – 12/19 ii. Hoops & Hustle Skills Challenge – 12/27 5. Programs a. Winter/Spring programs are live for sign-ups 6. Miscellaneous a. Expectations for the next Park Board meeting i. Arrive early for training on the microphones, etc. ii. Flag Salute – Led by Joe Edwards iii. Prayer – P&R staff will assign it each meeting iv. Joe Baumann – The Drone Show was impressive, and Parks and Recreation is doing a fantastic job. b. Carrie Sharp – Impressed with the events, year after year. As a department, everyone is making them proud of the programs and events. c. Tim Rhodes – I am amazed at what everyone does and the passion the staff has for what they do. d. Joe Edwards – Great job. Keep it going. All efforts are appreciated, and the city has set it up for the department to be successful. VIII.
