Minutes THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION THE TRAFFIC AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION MET IN SPECIAL SESSION ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2020 AT THE YUKON CITY HALL IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM. INVOCATION: James Montgomery FLAG SALUTE: In unison ROLL CALL: James Montgomery Charlie Lee Tim Peters Tom Thomas Brad Downing (Absent) CITY OFFICIALS: Doug Shivers, City Clerk Jason Beal, Deputy City Clerk Vickie Davis, Main Street Director Stephanie Hale, Main Street Board ITEM 1: PRESENTATION BY YUKON’S BEST MAIN STREET, DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING A CREATIVE CROSSWALK ON NORTH 5TH STREET The Creative Crosswalk was presented by Vickie Davis and Stephanie Hale. Commissioners discussed in detail with the presenters the installation process, materials, location, safety, cost, maintenance, design, liability, federal standards, signage and artist background. Motion to approve the creative crosswalk with the following conditions: place the crosswalk south of the alley; 8” white strip on the north and south borders; remove two parking spots on the east side of 5th Street where the crosswalk will be; install ‘pedestrian crossing’ and ‘pedestrian crossing ahead’ signage both north and southbound: Motion – Tim Peters Second – James Montgomery The motion passed unanimously.
