Public Safety Director Police Chief ORDINANCE NO. 2020-113 INTRODUCED BY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE PROPER CITY OFFICIAL TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR THE PURCHASE OF VEHICLES FOR THE POLICE DIVISION BY STATE PURCHASE AGREEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, it is essential to the operation of the Police Division that three police vehicles be purchased and placed into operation as replacement vehicles; and WHEREAS, Lebanon Ford, Lebanon, Ohio has been awarded the state bid for municipal government vehicle (Explorer Police SUV’s) purchases. WHEREAS, the good working order for police vehicles is imperative to the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens as delayed response times to incidents could hinder apprehension of criminals or delay the saving of lives thus creating the need for this to be passed as an emergency. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Zanesville, State of Ohio, that: SECTION ONE: The proper city official is hereby authorized to enter into a contract and purchase three (3) 2020 or newer Ford Explorer SUV’s from Lebanon Ford and to enter into a contract. SECTION TWO: The total cost of the Explorers is approximately $100,000 which will be paid from budget line item 201.1113.54450 and 820.1111.54448 and will not exceed the aforementioned amount. SECTIO N THREE: For reasons stated in this Ordinance hereto, this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure. Provided it receives the affirmative vote of six (6) or more members of City Council, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval of the Mayor.
