TOWN OF ZIONSVILLE, INDIANA BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS APRIL 17, 2023, PUBLIC MEETING 1100 WEST OAK STREET ZIONSVILLE, INDIANA MEETING MEMORANDA I. OPENING A. CALL TO ORDER: President Kristin Vargo called the meeting to order. B. MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE: President Kristin Vargo, Vice President Josh Garrett, Commissioner Bob Kuzman, and Commissioner Graig Collings C. MEMBERS NOT IN ATTENDANCE: Commissioner Joe Culp D. OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE: Chief of Police Michael Spears, Captain Drake Sterling, Captain Marius Klykken, Adam Steuerwald, Legal counsel for the Board of Police Commissioners, Tiffany Diefenderfer II. APPROVAL OF THE FOLLOWING MEETING MEMORANDA: A. Vice President Josh Garrett made a motion to approve the February 13, 2023, Meeting Memoranda as submitted. Commissioner Graig Collings seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0. III. OLD BUSINESS A. None. IV. NEW BUSINESS A. Chief Spears presented information regarding the appeal letter submitted by Detective Thomas Beard to join the currently promotion process. Sgt. Josh Samuelson provided a letter in favor of this appeal and Captain Sterling is also in favor or it. Vice President Garrett made a motion to approve the appeal submitted by Det. Beard. Commissioner Kuzman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passed with a vote of 4-0. V. OTHER MATTERS A. Captain Sterling had the five new officers introduce themselves to the Board members and provide a statement including their backgrounds. Chief Spears presented a Life Savings award to Corporal Cody Martin. VI. ADJOURN Commissioner Collings made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Kuzman seconded the motion. All in favor. Motion passed with a vote of 4-0. The next regular Board of Police Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 15, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. or upon the conclusion of the Town Council meeting.
