Zionsville Architectural Review Committee minutes of the April 10, 2012 meeting
Members of the Zionsville Architectural Review Committee met at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10,
2012 in the Fireplace Room at the Zionsville Town Hall.
Those attending included committee members Lisa Bick, Chris Bucher, Tom Casalini, Eileen
Davis, Betsy Harris and committee chairman David Rausch as well as merchant Barbara Jennings,
owner of the Corner Vise, and builder Kerry J. Wagoner of Nazareth Building Services.
Dave presided. Chris moved that the April 10, 2012 meeting agenda and minutes from the March
27, 2012 be approved. Lisa seconded the motion which carried.
Discussion continued from the March 27, 2012 meeting on the grant application made by Ms.
Jennings on behalf of her mother, Carol Chuck. Mrs. Chuck owns the property at 104 S. Main St.,
which includes the Corner Vise. Her builder, Mr. Wagoner, presented the committee with
materials requested at the earlier meeting. Included were a color rendering of the First Street
façade and photographs of the second level South and West elevations, which includes the window
and door replacements, as well as revisions of trim details.
It was the consensus of the committee that the second floor West elevation should either be painted
a terra cotta color for a more harmonious look or ideally returned to the natural brick. There were
also concerns about the color of the window trim on both levels. In addition, there was discussion
concerning the awning color as well as lighting and signage.
As a result of the above, it was noted that the current estimate might have to be modestly adjusted
from the original grant request of $27,473 which is 50 percent of the total cost of the project.
Eileen moved that the request be approved with the following conditions:
Confirmation (approval by the committee) of the color of the window trim
Confirmation of the awning color
Painting or restoration of the West façade of the second floor
Confirmation of lighting fixtures
Confirmation of tenant signage
Chris seconded the motion which carried.
Betsy also suggested that the document -- Agreement for Project Construction and Maintenance
for the Zionsville Rehabilitation Program Grant -- be signed by Ms. Jennings as soon as it is vetted
by the Zionsville Town Council. Ms. Jennings agreed.
In lieu of the regular meeting in April, the committee scheduled a planning meeting at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the studio of Tom Casalini.
The committee selected 2012 officers including:
Chairman -- David Rausch
Vice chairman -- Chris Bucher
Secretary -- Betsy Harris
Treasurer -- Andra Walters
Chris moved that the slate of officers be accepted. Tom seconded the motion which carried.
Tom also agreed to head the committee’s marketing committee.
There being no further business, Betsy moved that the meeting be adjourned at 8:45 a.m. Chris
seconded the motion which carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Betsy Harris, secretary
