Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes January 19, 2015 6:00pm Meeting attendees: Phil Howard Art Small Paul Watson Evan Williams Jeff Edmundson Officers Voted in: Art Small - Prez Bill Spitz - Vice Prez Evan Williams - Sec Walk Friendly Status Art is heading up our effort for this…Jeff and Phil offered to help. We are targeting a 2nd submission in May, 2015. Phil noted we really need to push for a formal Complete Streets Policy in place to help with the Walk Friendly effort…as well as our Bicycle Friendly effort. Bicycle Friendly Application Phil noted good effort from this committee in all areas of the application. We’re planning our 3rd submission for achieving Bicycle Friendly status on February 8th. Phil already has the submission put together and is almost ready to submit. Phil asked again for our whole committee to reread the application in greater detail for last minute improvements…hopefully by the end of this week. Pictures of select current pathways still need to be added. Parks Department Update Phil noted Parks applied for a $25k grant (with an additional Parks $25k match) for pedestrian/bicycle town applications. Walk/Bike to School Jeff noted contacting someone in ZCS to assure this activity happens again in 2015. He also suggested to her potential Eagle Scout projects that would benefit our pathways. Jeff noted he is pursuing articles in the local newspapers to help with bike education in the community. Eagle Creek Pathway This pathway has been on our priority list for over 10 years. Art is to generate a letter to Parks and Town leaders noted our unanimous support for higher priority for this pathway. 2015 Goals for our Committee We listed the goals we are working to achieve in 2015: 1. Walk Friendly Certification 2. Bicycle Friendly Certification 3. Review/Re-prioritize our Pathway Priority List 4. Eagle Creek Pathway start construction 5. Extend Rail Trail North effort 6. Find a new member for our Pathways Committee Next Meeting - Monday, February 23rd at 6pm.
