Minutes of the June 11, 2012 Pathway Committee Meeting Attendees: - Tom Schuler - Paul Watson - Phil Howard - Tim Casady - Bill Spitz - Geoff Brown - Art Small - Evan Williams 1. Tim noted that the ribbon cutting went well for the bridge/pathway extending east on Sycamore Street toward Raintree and Michigan Road. 2. Phil noted that several Parks Committee people walked the proposed pathway along Eagle Creek from the 100' Bridge into town. He noted all legal work was complete and we have a 30' easement the length of the trail. It will apparently take considerable planning due to the rough terrain...including potential bridges in certain areas. It was decided that our Committee should also walk the trail. We plan to meet at Nancy Burton park for our next meeting (Monday, July 9th at 5:30pm). We'll walk down the Rail Trail to the bridge then head north up Eagle Creek along the proposed trail. Dress for some rough woods hiking. Tim will bring a GPS in case we get lost. 3. Tim also gave an update on the Farm Heritage Trail. Apparently more effort is being directed now for the Zionsville to Whitestown portion including more specifically extending our current Trail north to at least 400S and maybe even 800E. Then, of course, decisions will need to be made on how to address the driveway problem starting at 800E. 4. Tim noted a potential update to our website hosted on the town site. Phil noted that Parks hired someone to update their Parks content but so far, this does not include Pathways. Tom said he was being assigned to look into Town technological aspects as part of his Town Council activities...and kinda wondered why Parks wouldn't also include the Pathways content. Not sure what was concluded, but I suspect more will develop. 5. Tim noted his effort to connect with our new town planner, Wayne DeLong. 6. We then started addressing our master list of pathway priorities. We added 4 specific pathways to our list: - From the current Starkey Trail to the back side of the Municipal Building. - Split the pathway along Eagle Creek north from Lion's Park into two segments. - Connection from Royal Run to Hunt Club Road - Connection from Stonegate north along the Utility Corridor to 550S 7. After that, we reset the priorities of the pathways on the master list...giving some higher priority and some lower. Once this is complete, we can then issue our recommendations to the effecting groups like Parks and Streets. Next meeting, Monday, July 9th. 5:30pm at Nancy Burton Park. When we get closer, we'll talk logistics of how to get back to our cars (or bikes).
