Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes August 12, 2013 6:00pm Committee attendees: Tim Casady Paul Watson Richard Stroup Art Small Tom Schuler Lance Lantz Bill Spitz Matt Dickey Geoff Brown Evan Williams Phil Howard Walk Friendly Community Program Art noted we’re still pursuing this with a target of gathering all the info by the next submittal date maybe this fall. Bicycle Friendly Community Bill passed out the results of the feedback from the last submittal for certification (attached)…and reviewed/ discussed the major points. One of the points was the lack of a paid staff position. Phil offered to look into that. Then, Tim listed a bunch of actions planned to address the feedback. One mentionable was contacting the school board to pursue bike racks at the schools. Phil offered to pursue this. As for bicycle safety education in the schools, Lance offered to look into it. Our goal is to resubmit for certification at the next time slot. Grants Paul asked if we knew of any methods to pursue grants for our projects. Had a little discussion, but no actionable items. WayFinding Project Lance noted more progress targeting September/October timeframe. Project Priorities Richard noted the status of funding (or lack thereof) for certain projects. Updating the Pathways Plan Tim noted that a markup of new potential updates to our master plan have been given to Ed Mitro for potential submission the next time the Zville Transportation Plan is updated. Hanging Trees Paul noted problems with tree limbs and shrubs that are blocking vision and even passage. Bill and Art offered to help Paul ID some problem locations for addressing. Commercializing the Rail Trail Evan asked what a process would be to look into encouraging commercialism along our Rail Trail much like what Carmel has done with their Monon Trail at their Arts District. Tom offered to get a feel for this potential with other town leaders. NSEW Planning Paul mentioned that we might need to update our plans in how we meet up with other communities to the North, South, East, and West. Next Meetings - The next meeting will be two months away: October 21st at 6pm
