Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes - Amended August 15, 2017 6:00pm Meeting attendees: Art Small Evan Williams Elizabeth Hopper Larry Boley Jeff Edmundson Paul Watson Rick Hall Faye Snodgrass Widening Zionsville Road Elizabeth went to the public meeting on this project. The plans show for a wide pathway on the west side all the way down Technology Drive. Road Crossing Markings Paul asked about the status of this. Elizabeth said Safety Board is the next step. Visitors welcome. Walk Friendly Status Art & Jeff to get together soon to get going on the Walk Friendly for submission by November. Bike Friendly Status Jeff & Art are also working on this…needing to resubmit to continue with our current Bronze level. We plan to hopefully improve our level with our next submission…early next year. Planetary Distance Markers for the Rail Trail Larry noted what Traverse City in Michigan has done for a trail there. Signs were placed along their trail relatively depicting the distance of the planets in our solar system from our sun. He mapped where markers could be placed starting with the sun at the 100' bridge. Traverse City also had educational stations about our solar system along their trail. We agreed that this potential project should be passed along to Parks. Spring Refresher - Bike Info Faye noted that in the spring there should be an informational reminder of bicyclists versus roads, pedestrians, & drivers. Evan suggested Tim put something together for potential publishing in local newspapers. Reviewing Priority Pathways We looked at half of our current "longer term" pathways for updates…Evan will update the list and distribute it by our next meeting to hopefully complete our Master Pathway Plan update. Officer Elections Faye Snodgrass was elected to perform the duties of Secretary. Next Meeting - Tuesday, October 3rd - Hopefully in the Fireplace Room
