Zionsville Pathways Committee Zoom Meeting June 11, 2020 In Attendance: Bret Brewer, Justin Hage, Craig Melton, Wayne Bivans, Joe Rust Bret called the meeting to order at 7:10 pm. Old/Continuing Business: 1. (out of order) – Wayne discussed a. The Town is hiring a consulting firm to look at recreation issues in the Town b. Updates on the trails from Wayne i. Rail trail north, close to getting through to construction to connect with Whitestown ii. Rail trail south, 1 holdout property owner, looking to purchase last portion to start planning for construction iii. Elm Street Green looking to get connected with Lions Park New Business: 1. Walk Friendly Community designation is a request for us to work on from Town Council President 2. Bret to work on worksheet to assist with Walk Friendly requests to help show how it will help the Town a. Start to put in place manual counts and sheets to get the ball rolling b. Community service credit for people who help i. There are some college scholarships out there for kids who do community service along with other things, but they will have to track their hours 3. Investigating counting and ways to count walkers and bikers at many different areas in Town a. Counts before, during and after projects can show the effectiveness and increased safety of those projects to help assess future projects and implications of such i. E.g., counts before during and after connection of Elm Street Green and Lions Park 4. Look at potential apps and what Town may already have ideas of for tracking and planning apps 5. Potential public presentations and discussions with (not all inclusive): a. Julie Johns Cole b. Tim Cassidy c. Mindy Murdock d. Scott Robinson e. Mayor Styron f. Lance Lantz g. Zionsville Parks and Pathways Committee Meeting Agenda Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. VIA Zoom Note: Due to the COVID-19 Emergency Health Situation, this meeting was instead required to be a virtual meeting (see next sheet for more info). Call to Order/Roll Call/Agenda Confirmation Approval of Previous Minutes Public Presentations/Comments - None Identified New Business - Setting up of counting stations and data collection - Volunteers to take over sections of the walk friendly application Old Business - Updates on trails and pathways - Additional thoughts on ideas from prior meeting - App- Google map type to tell trails in the area. Suggested tech companies to donate time and money for the app set up - Businesses to sponsor benches on the trails and to adopt areas of the trail for upkeep and painting, etc. - Creekfest type 5K- paint street lights, add poems to sidewalks, etc. - Other Board Related Items Claims Adjournment NOTE: Next regular meeting TBD in the Zionsville Town Hall’s Council Chambers (Rm 105). The Executive Orders suspend certain requirements for Essential Governmental Functions that facilitate Essential Infrastructure with respect to public meetings and open-door laws, including suspending physical participation requirements by members of public agency governing bodies and permitting public attendance through electronic means of communications. As a political subdivision of the State of Indiana, the Zionsville Park and Recreation Board must comply with the Executive Orders throughout the duration of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. According, all public meetings of the Zionsville Park and Recreation Board shall be conducted in the following manner until the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. Members of the public shall have the right to attend Zionsville Park and Recreation Board Public Meetings via the following forms of electronic communication.
