Zionsville Pathways Committee Meeting

8/8/2023 Pathways Committee Meeting Minutes Meeting called to order 6:39 pm Members present: Kris Barksdale, Quincy Cunningham, Emily Makinson, Craig Melton Community Member present: Brad Gressel, Danette Roberts, Christian Roberts Notes: 1. Kris Barksdale gave update from Parks Board. They have applied for an IU grant which would provide funds to connect Elm Street Green to Lions Park as well as a connection from Holiday Farms to Turkey Foot Park. 2. Craig Melton informed the group that the Town Council would like a preview of the trail recommendation presentation by Aug. 14th to get on the agenda for the Aug. 21st meeting. This meeting will be just before the 2024 budget meeting, so the group agreed this was good timing. 3. Discussed outline for slide deck. Brad Gressel and Quincy Cunningham volunteered to work on the presentation. Suggested 4-5 slides including: Overview of Pathways Committee previous work (interactive map, updated previous committee priorities, Bike Friendly Bronze designation, potential Trailfest), Name of each project with pictures/description and why we chose it as priority (Quick impact, large population served). The request to Town Council is to prioritize these paths in the 2024 budget along with any required feasibility study. 4. Craig suggested adding to the priority list a Royal Run connection through Ottinger Drive to complete the Royal Run loop. After discussion, developed consensus on TOP 4 pathway priorities: -Cobblestone Whitestown Rd entrance to roundabout at 875 -Michigan Rd. Appaloosa to Willow Rd. -Boone Meadow to Harvest Park -Ottinger Drive completion Meeting adjourned 7:40 p.m. Action items: Mark to update interactive map to include Ottinger Drive connection. Quincy, Justin, Brad prepare slides for Town Council presentation by August 14th and send to Craig. Craig to get Pathways committee on the Aug. 21 7:30a.m. Town Council meeting.
