Minutes PZAZ Date:16th June 2021 Present: Mervyn Cohen, Greta Sanderson, and Amy Lacy Absent: Tom Casalini, Nancy Tikijian, Brad Burk Greta Sanderson called the meeting to order at 8:00am As there was no quorum for the meeting no business decisions were made. Greta you all of the items that were generated from the recent tree board training session. Discussion on action items following tree board training with Carrie Tauscher, State Urban Forestry Coordinator, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry – dates for March a. Grants – Vibrant cities lab https://www.vibrantcitieslab.com/ community toolkit, goals, tracking b. Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) Assessment – overlay by census block or council district, show which areas are good or bad, 40% canopy cover is recommended, can apply for a grant for high resolution imaging, work with high school ag program c. Tree designation for businesses or homes that meet a list of standards d. Move recommend lists out of town ordinance, don’t want them overplanted, have a list for reference, see Fishers list e. Mitigation plans for stormwater and retention f. Expand board members – student from high school eco club to serve as liaison – require town council action? It was felt that the committee should be involved with all the above items, except with the storm water retention. There was discussion on expanding the number of members of the PZAZ board. Amy reported that she has a list of several community members who have expressed interest in serving on the board. She will ask the Town Council if additional appointments can be made in the middle of the year. Our annual tree city designation has been submitted. The meeting adjourned at 8:45am. Mervyn Cohen
