PZAZ Minutes 8 a.m. September 25, 2024 Zionsville Town Hall Fanimation Room 103 1100 West Oak Street This meeting was conducted onsite. All members participated in person. Present: Greta Sanderson, Michal Owens, Ellen Denehy, Amy Lacy, Roger Collins, Dan Bradley, Tim McElderry, Mike Dale, and Kaitlin Watson I. Attendance taken 8:35 am II. Approve minutes from August 21, 2024 meeting III. Update on initiatives and committee responsibilities A. Ordinances and preservation: Pauline/Michal/Dan 1. Group looked at the most recent draft of Recommended Tree List and made edit suggestions. Most suggestions were aesthetic, or changes in wording. We plan to send to Lance Lantz for approval before next meeting. 2. We are hoping to share these recommendations as a resource for the community, not as an official town ordinance. B. Events: Michal 1. Tree of the Year Presentation at next Town Council meeting October 7th at 7:00pm. Michal will bring gift card, framed photo, and send reminder email. Dan and Ellen plan to come for support. 2. Tree City designation: Roger a) Roger announced retirement. He plans to train the new hire before his official retirement. He will be incredibly missed. 3. Outreach and communication: Ellen a) Tree List can be sent to HOA’s IV. Old business A. Tree Board Training 1. Tree Steward training: Oct. 10 & 11 - Indianapolis general workshop. Dan plans to attend. 2. 2024 Indiana Urban Forestry Symposium: Mark your calendar for December 3,4 for the 2024 Indiana Urban Forestry Symposium held at Crown Hill Cemetery & Arboretum in Indianapolis. Agenda and registration will be announced soon.  3. Meeting with ZCS on “A Tree Can Be” curriculum a) We can reach out again to assistant superintendent V. Adjourn 9:30. Next meeting is during ZCS Fall Break, so meeting will be scheduled for October 23, 2024.
