CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS
City Council Chambers, 123 South Lincoln Street, Municipal Building, Aberdeen,
South Dakota, July 17, 2017, at 5:30 p.m., regular meeting of the Board of City Council
Members, Mayor Mike Levsen presiding. Present at roll call were City Councilors David
Bunsness, Alan Johnson, Dave Lunzman, Dennis “Mike” Olson, Mark Remily, Rob Ronayne
by teleconference call, Clint Rux, and Jennifer Slaight-Hansen. City Staff present were Lynn
Lander, Ron Wager, Robin Bobzien, Brett Bill, Karl Alberts, and Dave McNeil.
Mayor Levsen led the Pledge of Allegiance.
MINUTES
Johnson moved, Bunsness seconded to approve the minutes of July 10, 2017, as
circulated. Upon roll call, all voting aye, motion carried.
OPEN FORUM
Lavonne Walker was present to discuss permits for pools. Aberdeen Police Sergeant
Tanner Jondahl presented the 40/8 Veterans’ Organization Officer of the Year Award to
Aberdeen Police Officer Justin Parsons.
CONSENT CALENDAR
Slaight-Hansen moved, Bunsness seconded to approve the following items on the
consent calendar:
SET HEARING DATE – of July 31, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. for an application for a Special One-
Day Retail Liquor License on August 5, 2017 for Aberdeen Downtown Association’s
Downtown Concert Series on Main Street from 2nd Avenue to Railroad Avenue including an
application for a Community Event Permit.
APPLICATION FOR A COMMUNITY EVENT PERMIT – for Aberdeen Family YMCA’s
Glow Run Event on July 28, 2017
Upon roll call, all voting aye, motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS
RESOLUTION NO. 17-07-01R
Johnson moved, Olson seconded to approve Resolution No. 17-07-01R to vacate the
public right-of-way for the entire 60’ Wide Lee Street Public Right-Of-Way commencing at
the North Side of 27th Avenue, NE Public Right-Of-Way and continuing North 155.66’ to
point of termination, Block 4, Dakota Estates Subdivision in Aberdeen, South Dakota (Lee
Street Right-Of-Way between 1019 – 27th Avenue, NE and 2717 North Harrison Street).
Upon roll call, all voting aye, motion carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 17-07-02R
Rux moved, Remily seconded to approve Resolution No. 17-07-02R for annexation
of the property described as Lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 1, Jones Commercial Park Subdivision in
the SE ¼ of Section 16, T123N, R63W of the 5th P.M., Brown County, South Dakota (515,
425, and 405 South Jones Street) into the city limits of the City of Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Upon roll call, all voting aye, motion carried.

PROMOTION FUND REQUESTS
Travis Kiefer of CREATE and Gina Karst of Safe Harbor presented their Promotion
Fund Requests to the City Council. No action was taken by the Council.
There being no further business, Remily moved, Olson seconded that the meeting be
adjourned. All voting aye, motion carried.
