Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Minutes
Meeting Date: Tuesday, January 17, 2017 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m.
Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room
Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting
Attended: Laura Stoltenburg, Becca Wells, Tom Wanttie, Holly Gederos, Krista Bau, Susan Hook, Nancy Kelsey,
Dawn Brush, Doris Stusiak, Dalita Meyer, Micahela Kocher – guest, Mendy Jones, Kris Fastenau, Eric Vetter
Absent: Cindy Kirschman, Steve Kelsey, Deb Kambel, Cody Roggatz, Sarah Johnson Dorich, Sandy Glover, Ardell

1. Standing Items
1.1 Any additions to agenda? Eric Vetter - handicap parking permits, Dawn Brush - fundraising
1.2 Review and approve minutes from November 2016 meeting: Motion by Krista Bau, second by Dawn
Brush, motion carried.
1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from November 2016: Current balance for the general fund for
2017 is $1,784.24, ADA fund is $1,112.09 and BAD fund is $303.50. Krista Bau made a motion to rescind
last month’s motion to borrow money from the ADA fund, and Tom Wanttie seconded the motion.
Motion carried. Motion to approve Treasurer’s report by Dawn Brush, seconded by Tom Wanttie -
motion carried.
2. Committee Reports
2.1. BAD - Dawn Brush will be absent from the event this year. Currently there is no chair for this
subcommittee. Doris Stusiak will speak with Cindy Kirschman about getting the committee together for a
meeting.
2.2. Partners in Community Pride – Chamber retreat coming up.
2.3. Transportation – Tom Wanttie reports Rideline continues with the twice daily trips to Summit. They
have hired another part time driver.
2.4. Education Enhancement Award (Tabled until spring)
2.5. NDEAM - There will be a planning meeting January 31, 2017, at DRS conference room.
2.6. ADA Anniversary Celebration – no report
3. Old Business
3.1. Brown County Fair Accessible Parking (Eric Vetter) – Eric Vetter hasn’t heard anything more on a date
for the next meeting. He reported that incorrect parking continues to be a problem at Walmart
especially with the access aisles. He will bring information regarding accessible parking and access aisles
to the next meeting.
3.2. Did You Realize Campaign Status (Tabled until Budget Subcommittee Meets) – Krista Bau, Eric Vetter, et
al.
4. New Business
4.1 Mayor's Advisory Promotion Fund Request (Doris Stusiak) - The committee was approved to receive
$2,000 for 2017.
4.1.1 Volunteers for Budget Subcommittee – Tom Wanttie, Laura Stoltenburg, Cindy Kirschman,
Susan Hook, Dalita Meyer, Krista Bau, Doris Stusiak. Doris will organize a meeting of this group.
4.2 Quorum Clarification (Tabled until February 2017) - Doris Stusiak
4.3 Election of Officers - Ballots were passed out to vote for the new officers. The new officers will hold

their positions for 2 years. The new officers are: Chairperson – Tom Wanttie, Vice Chairperson and
Treasurer- Laura Stoltenburg, and Secretary – Dalita Meyers.
4.4 Additions to agenda:
4.4(1) Eric Vetter brought up concern about what the process is for applying for and getting a handicap
parking permit. He said it appears there may be people who utilize the parking with a permit but do
not appear to have a disability. Discussion was held regarding disabilities that cannot be seen such as
heart problems and what conditions qualify. Eric will get an application for a parking permit for the
whole committee to look at. (The parking permit application was emailed out by Doris Stusiak after
the meeting.)
4.4(2) Dawn Brush informed the committee that she is a consultant for Pampered Chef and brought up
the possibility of fundraising for the committee. Laura Stoltenburg will talk with Karl Alberts regarding
fundraising to see if it is possible or not and bring it back to the committee next meeting. Laura
Stoltenburg informed the committee that Project Connect will not hold an event this year for the
homeless count which takes place on January 24, 2017. If anyone encounters a homeless person,
they are to connect them with Journey Home.

6. Ending Items – Adjourn Meeting - Motion by Eric Vetter to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Dawn Brush.
