Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Agenda Meeting Date: Tuesday, November 20, 2018 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m. Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting. Cindy Krischman, Tom Wanttie, Steven Richmond, Becca Wells, Allison (Daschel) Schmitt, Doris Stusiak, Dalita Meyer, Nancy Kelsey, Tina Kenser, Eric Vetter, Laura Stoltenburg, and Mendy Jones 1. Standing Items 1.1 Any additions to agenda? Snow and ice removal in City limits 1.2 Review and approve minutes from October 2018 Meeting Eric second by Cindy. All approve 1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from October 2018 Meeting. The only change is an invoice from the Chamber for the upcoming year membership. Total balance 3,206.43. Nancy made the motion to approve the treasurer’s report with a second from Eric. All approve. 1.4 Excused absence: Lance Sigdestad, Gwen Fischbach and Dawn Brush 2. Committee Reports 2.1 BAD – Cindy reported that we need to review the committee member list. Cindy will send out the save the date to the teachers. The date will be April 26th 2019. 2.2 Partners in Community Pride – Eric report – City has had more complaints than previous year with yards, junk cards etc. The downtown association will be lighted trees for Christmas. 2.3 Transportation – There is a new Transportation director Rich Krokel . Ride line looking for 1 more driver. Rideline has 3 part-time drives out. Ride line did receive their grants and will receive 3 new buses in 2019. Will also purchase a new lift, camera and other equipment. Last year they provided approximately 72,000 rides. This amount is decrease from the discontinued Foster Grandparent program. 2.4 Education Enhancement Award – Mendy reported that they took a picture of the winner and placed in on the Facebook site and also in the Scrapbook section of the Aberdeen American News. 2.5 NDEAM - Laura reported that there will be a follow up in December. 2.6 ADA Anniversary Celebration – tabled until May. 3. Old Business 3.1 None 4. New Business 4.1 Election of Officers for next two years. This will be held in January. The committee is canvasing for nominations. 4.2 Discussion of proposed changes regarding the application form and dates for application for Educational Enhancement Award. Laura reviewed with the committee the draft of the Educational Enhancement Award. The $500 reward amount was voted on in a prior meeting. The main change to Award is changing the deadline for the application form. Suggestions were made for potential changes to the application form. Doris will bring the application changes to the January meeting for a final vote. 4.3 Snow and ice removal in City limits – Steve brought the concern about the ice and snow removal from the latest snow fall. Eric reviewed that the residents have 48 hours to remove the snow. People can call the Code Enforcement department within the city office to file of complaint. The city does not monitor the snow removal. Eric will visit with Shane with the Enforcement office. Also discussed the possibility of having some PSAs to bring the issue to people’s attention. Possibly have information about the issue in the paper and the Progress. 4.4 Christmas party: will be held the evening Thursday the December 6th. Please bring a white elephant gift of $10. 5.
