Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities Minutes Meeting Date: Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Start Time: 12 p.m. End Time: 1 p.m. Location: City Hall 2nd Floor Conference Room Purpose: Regular scheduled meeting Attendance: Mendy Jones, Nancy Kelsey, Tina Kenser, Cindy Krischman, Lance Sigdestad, Dalita Meyer, Steven Richmond, Doris Stusiak, Eric Vetter and Becca Wells. Excused absence: Tom Wanttie, Laura Stoltenburg, Gwen Fischbach, Allison Schmitt and Dawn Brush. Absent: Mike Gast, Deb Kambel, Nicole Nelson and Tyler Goldade. 1. Standing Items 1.1 Any additions to agenda? 1.2 Review and approve minutes from November 2018 Meeting. Nancy made the motion to approve the November meeting minutes with second from Cindy. All in favor. Motion carried. 1.3 Review and approve Treasurer’s report from November 2018 Meeting. Laura was not present to give a full treasure’s report however left information that there are not changes or expenses to the treasure report since the last meeting held in November. Becca made the motion to approve the treasure’s report with a second from Nancy. All in favor. Motion carried. 1.4 Committee Reports 2.1 BAD – Cindy reported that she sent out the Save the Date to all the teachers. The event will be April 26th. 2.2 Partners in Community Pride – Eric reported that they completed the Light Award and Anthony Jeweler won this reward. The Progress has a listing of all previous awards from this and other awards 2.3 Transportation – No report 2.4 Education Enhancement Award – No new info 2.5 NDEAM - The committee met last week and reviewed different options for this year’s event. Will review cost and availability before deciding on the presenter or movie as an option. 2.6 ADA Anniversary Celebration – Looking at options on what to do this year for this event. Steven inquired if this event could be tied to another event to increase attendance. 3. Old Business 3.1 Snow and ice removal in City Limits – any other discussion from November Steven reported that he noticed the snow and ice removal seemed better this past storm. There are still issues with clearing the sidewalk in front of the old Ramada Lot. If anyone sees any snow removal issues, please report to the City Office. There was an article in the Progress regarding snow removal. 4. New Business 4.1 Election of Officers for next two years. Discussion was held if we should bring in new members to join the committee. Discussed possibly finding some members from different organizations. Reviewed the Bylaws and noted that members have more than 3 unexcused absences. Dalita will bring a tally sheet of attendance to the next meeting. 4.2 Discussion of proposed changes regarding the application form and dates for application for Educational Enhancement Award – final approval of new application. Doris distributed an updated handout with the changes noted. One of the changes is moving the application due date to June 15th. Applications will be sent out to NSU and PC in the near future. {00046012.DOCX / 1}  4.3 Committee Lists- List of committees were distributed and members were asked to check what committees they are interested in serving on or volunteering with an event. Dalita will tally up the members’ interest questionnaire regarding serving in the different events and committees. Results will be reviewed at the next meeting. 4.4 Becca made the motion and second by Tina second to accept Steven as a committee member. All in favor, motion carried. 5. Review Upcoming Dates – NAMI Family Support Group – 2nd Monday of month, 6:30-7:30, Fireside Room, Bethlehem Lutheran Church NAMI Aberdeen Affiliate Meeting – 3rd Monday of month, 5:30 – 7:00, Location TBA NAMI Connections Peer Support Group – 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month, 6:00-7:00, ARCC NAMI Night – 3rd Thursday of month, 5:30 -8:30, Red Rooster Coffee House Dinner in the Dark is Tuesday April 23rd and will be held in Northern Centennials room at the Student Union.
