CITY OF ALBANY COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS Meeting Minutes October 21, 2021 Opening: The October 21, 2021, meeting was called to order at 6:00 PM EST, via Zoom, by Vice Chairperson Rosie Love. Present: Vice Chairperson Rosie Love; Secretary Thomas Richards, Esq. Commissioner Natisha Alexander; Commissioner Celia Evers; Commissioner Kate Shelly, Esq. Chief Diversity Officer Angelica Kang, Esq.; and Assistant Corporation Counsel Laura M. Gulfo, Esq. Absent: Chairperson Aaron Moore; Commissioner Valerie Alexander-Moseley; Quorum: Yes Approval of Prior Meeting Minutes: Yes. Correction to minutes: Jamila Anderson listed as nominee for the Annual Awards Ceremony; addition that the Equity Agenda data was originally requested in July 2021. Business from the Prior Meeting: No update on the Annual Awards Ceremony. Equity Agenda update. Executive Director Kang noted that a data request had been sent in late September to several City departments requesting returned data by October 8. This deadline has since been extended to early November to allow departments 1 to provide the data in accessible formats. Vice Chairperson Love noted that this data had initially been requested by the Commission in July 2021. New Business: 1 Office of the Mayor; Albany Police Department; Health Office; Youth and Employment Office; Parks and Recreation; General Services; Budget; Administrative Services; Operations. 1 Secretary Richards provided information on the New York State Bar Association’s Task Force on Racism, Social Equity, and the Law upcoming public forum on How Structural Racism Built Today’s Education, Health and Economic Outcomes, scheduled for October 25th from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. This Public Forum is free to attend, but preregistration is required at this link: https://nysba.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_W8WC60-kRauSsb3aYDMSHQ Executive Director Kang noted that no public comments were submitted for the meeting.
