After discussing the proposal to demolish the vacant two-story wood frame structure, the Commission voted to defer the
application for 90 days and requested the following-
• The HRC will investigate what other New York State Land Banks do to market their buildings located within Historic
Districts;
• The Albany County Land Bank will provide data comparing the percentage of Albany County Land Bank owned
properties in the historic districts that have been demolished to other NYS Land Banks;
• The Albany County Land Bank will look at how other NYS Land Banks weatherize and mothball vacant structures and
specifically how they deal with interior drains; and
• The Historic Resources Commission will work with the Albany County Land Bank over the 90 day deferment to market
and explore options to save 33 Alexander Street.

• Provide further information on the original masonry treatment- color, staining and joints;
• Clarify the proposed window details and provide specifications;
• The proposed windows will fill the entire fenestration opening, be installed in the same plane as the existing windows,
and feature arched toped sashes; and
• Correct the elevation drawings to remove Note #2 (exterior vents) under ‘General Exterior Notes.’

After discussing the proposal to rehabilitate the existing 2-story historic structure and construct a rear 5-story addition, the
Commission made the following recommendations during the concept review-
• Provide full elevations and specifications for rehabilitation of the existing 2-story masonry structure including-
o Masonry treatment;
o Roof treatment; and
o Proposed window details.
• Provide samples or specification information for proposed masonry cladding at the basement;
• Provide information on durability of proposed PVC trim and cementitious cladding;
• Revise the protruding trim in order to reduce the visual impact; and
• Provide proposed material specifications digitally for review if an in-person meeting cannot be held.
