SHEEHAN NE W YOR K DIRECTOR: BRADLEY GLASS DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT CONTACT: Erin Glennon Historic Resources Commission hrc@albanyny.gov Historic Resources Commission Public Workshop Date: Thursday, June 6, 2024 Location: 200 Henry Johnson Blvd, 2nd Floor Conference Room and Teleconference and Videoconference Time: 6:00 PM Present: Members: Geraghty, Hacker, Kaplan ,McEneny, Pinckney, Tobin Planning Staff: Glennon DISPOSITION OF CASES PROJECT # 00557 Application(s) COA 1123, 1124, 1125, 1126, 1127 Property Address 72, 180, 233, 325-327, 331-333, 337 Clinton Avenue Owner Home Leasing Historic District Clinton Avenue/North Pearl Street/Clinton Square After discussing the request to construct 10 new row-house structures and rehabilitate an existing vacant structure, the Commission made the following recommendations-  72 Clinton Avenue- o Change the horizontal lap siding between the entry doors to a vertical trim element.  180 Clinton Avenue- o Consider enlarging or adding trim or moulding to cornice treatment on buildings ‘1’ and ‘3’ (beige and blue buildings) o Reduce space between the cornice and oriel window on buildings ‘1’ and ‘3’; o Reduce the space between the third floor, single windows and the cornice; o Consider adding more substantial lintels and sills to the proposed windows. Refer to the trim on 72 and 233 Clinton Avenue; o Increase the height of the proposed windows, maintain the width and consider adding more substantial trim, sills and lintels.  233 Clinton Avenue- o Check the spacing between the top of the windows and bay trim; o The applicant should provide information about the proposed treatment for the bay window side walls; o Detailing on the oriel from the March proposal should be reintroduced but keep the proposed roof from the June proposal; o The applicant should consider adding more substantial trim, sills and lintels to the single, second and third floor windows; o The applicant should consider removing the proposed bay window roof in order to achieve a deeper cornice.  325-327, 331-333 Clinton Avenue o The horizontal lap siding should be replaced with vertical trim elements; o Reintroduce the window spacing on the oriel window from the March proposal; o The applicant should verify proportions, detailing, height, and treatments on the bay windows; o Center the second and third floor windows over the first floor entries.  337 Clinton Avenue o The applicant should consider using frosted glass in the in the large storefront windows and clear glass in the storefront transoms; o The applicant should consider making the transom above the fixed storefront door operable. 200 HENRY JOHNSON BOULEVARD | ALBANY, NEW YORK 12210 | (518) 465-6066  Historic Resources Commission Meeting Disposition June 6, 2024  All buildings o Change the horizontal lap siding between the entry doors in the vestibule to a vertical trim element; o The applicant should revise all of the proposed cornices to have a deeper overhang (174-178 Third Street as examples); o The applicant must provide a section drawing of the proposed cornices.
