POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE MAY 24TH, 2023 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Bert Hefty at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Hefty, Fred Johnson, Dennis Atkinson and Danny Mueller, Ex-officio. Absent: Roald Henderson, Deanna Hubert, Doug Lawrence. Proof of posting was verified. Meeting called to order at 6:32 p.m. MINUTES: Motion by Johnson, seconded by Atkinson, to approve the previous minutes as printed. Carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: Luke Eastwood and Brooke Helley were present to discuss crosswalk signage on Hwy 59. FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Fire Chief Mueller proposed The Fire Department Reimbursement as follows: 1-10 meeting $4.00, 11-20 practices $5.00, 21-30 practices $6.00, 31-40 practices $7.00, 41-50 practices $8.00, 51-60 practices $9.00, and 61-70 practices $10.00. Albany is the lowest paid volunteers in the county. Motion by Hefty, seconded by Johnson to increase reimbursement for Fire Department participation. Mueller is worried about being sued personally, but should be covered under the Village’s Insurance. Blumer to check with attorney and the League of Municipality for legal verbage. Mueller would like to retire from the Chief position; Justin Mueller, Justin Parker, and Jake Leonhard are all qualified. The next mandatory meeting for fire department is scheduled for June 3rd @ 9 a.m. POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Ritter reported the opening weekend of summer tubing is coming up on May 27th, 2023. The porta potty’s are in place at Bowman Park and 305 South Mechanic St., but not in the Municipal parking lot by the Dam due to construction. He also informed that the replacement of camera on South Water St. is scheduled to be done by Sonic on Friday May 26th, 2023. Robert Ritter invited everyone to Officer Reints retirement celebration on Thursday 5/25/23 from 2-4pm at the Village Hall. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Johnson, and seconded by Atkinson to approve the three new operator’s license.
