POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE September 26th, 2023 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Bert Hefty at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Hefty, Michelle Monson, Fred Johnson, Deanna Hubert, Fire Chief Danny Mueller and Police Chief Robert Ritter. Absent: Dennis Atkinson and Doug Lawrence. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Johnson, seconded by Monson, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None. FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Mueller reported that the department responded to 11 calls for the tubing season with 4 emergency responders per call. He also reported that they were concerned with the later time of day that the tubes were being put in the water making trip last until dusk. The new fire truck chassis should arrive in November 2023 which means the truck is scheduled to be delivered in March 2024. POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Ritter reported that the tubing season over and expressed concern about the time tubers were allowed to start tubing which caused much later returns. Another traffic grant would be starting in two months, but the dollar amount is unknown at this time. The new Village Hall doors locking system are currently installed, although two of the door locks are not working; which is scheduled to be looked into. FIRE INSEPCTION ORDINANCE §33-3B(3): Fire Chief stated that the state will allow with exception to require once a year fire inspection; he would like to change the ordinance to reflect this. Mueller said the department needs a new fire inspector; suggested hiring a part-time inspector. 2024 BUDGET: Motion by Monson, seconded by Johnson, to approve the budget as presented. Carried. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Monson, seconded by Johnson, to approve operator’s licenses for Kaidyn Beavers and Stephanie Gutowski. Carried.
