POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE April 29th, 2025 The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson Michelle Monson at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI. Members present were: Monson, Fred Johnson, Tonya Stephan, Dennis Atkinson, Scott Roth, Fire Chief Hauri and Police Chief Robert Ritter. Also present: Mark Reidel, Kim Blumer, Brian Flannery and Alan Hodkiewicz. Proof of posting was verified. MINUTES: Motion by Stephan, seconded by Johnson, to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Carried. PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None FIRE CHIEF UPDATES: Chief Hauri reported that in April the department responded to 11 calls, which included 5 mutual aid, 4 EMS assist, and 1 car accident. The department currently consists of 20 firefighters with 4 completing Fire 1 and 2 in May. The Fire Department recently received a FAP grant that will be used for EMR equipment, including AED’s to bring department to code. Chief Hauri also informed the committee of some upcoming meetings that include Incident Command Systems that will be held May 6-8 in Monroe; Active Shooter Training for all First Responders on May 21, 22, and 29; Reunification training will take place later in August; and the next strategic planning meeting will be held May 20, 2025. The annual fundraiser calendar is in the planning stages. Chief Hauri also reported that the attic steps would cost around $400 to build, this will be brought back to a future meeting. FIRE DEPARTMENT AUDIT: The department is currently looking into audit companies with the average price range from $11,000 to $14,000. POLICE CHIEF UPDATES: Chief Ritter reported that the squad computers have been ordered but are currently on back order. SOUND PERMIT APPLICATION: A sound permit application for a live band during an annual fish fry at 205 South Water Street on July 19, 2025, from 6pm-10pm for roughly 80-100 attendees was presented. Chief Ritter will reach out to the surrounding neighbors and this application will be brought back to the May meeting. OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Stephan, seconded by Johnson, to approve operators’ licenses for Sydney Mortaloni and Sara Sanwick. All ayes. Motion carried. ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE ITEMS: The Hemp 1848 store in town opened without proper corrections made or passing the occupancy. ADJOURN: Motion by Atkinson, seconded by Stephen, to adjourn. All ayes.
