Moment of Silent Prayer Mayor Stoneburner called for a moment of silent prayer Pledge of Allegiance Mayor Stoneburner led the Pledge of Allegiance. Approve Agenda Motion by Skarbek; supported by Bembas to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried. Presentations St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon presented the semi-annual activity update. Mayor Stoneburner congratulated Sheriff Donnellon on his retirement. Public Comment Bill Roland, 100 Delta Drive, asked where the no wake buoys went. He thought they made a difference and they’ve been removed. Mayor Stoneburner explained to him they are continuously under repair because they are continuously hit by boaters. 8.18.2020 CC Minutes 1  City Manager’s Report City Manager presented a brief report. Unfinished Business None New Business To introduce Amendment to Rental Housing Ordinance Motion by Blair; supported by Bembas to INTRODUCE Article V “Rental Housing” as part of Chapter 10 “Buildings and Building Regulations” and to repeal Article III “Single- Family Rental Housing” and Article IV “Multiple Dwellings and Roominghouses” of the city code. Motion carried. Roll Call Ayes: Blair, Gillis, Martin, Meldrum, Skarbek, Stoneburner, Bembas Nays: None To approve Engine #1 emergency pump repairs: $ 2,126.95 Motion by Bembas; supported by Skarbek to approve payment for Engine #1 emergency pump repairs to Michigan Fire Apparatus, Inc., whose address is 1270 Calvin, Riley Township, MI 48041, in the amount of $2,126.95. Motion carried. Roll Call Ayes: Meldrum, Skarbek, Stoneburner, Bembas, Blair, Gillis, Martin Nays: None To approve SAW Asset Management Plans engineering: $ 567,000 Motion by Blair; supported by Bembas to approve the engineering services proposal for the SAW Grant Asset Management Plan with HRC, whose address is P.O. Box 824, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303, in the amount of $567,000 and direct the city manager to sign the proposal on behalf of the city. Motion carried. Really looks great. Meldrum I agree with Ray, it’s beautiful and a great addition to the community. Blair Thank you to the Sheriff and the department. They do a great job for us and it shows in the reports we get and the amount of visibility they have in town. Miss DeMonte did a great job on the mural. Stay safe and enjoy the rest of the summer. Gillis Congratulation to Sheriff Donnellon on his retirement and thanks for your years of service. Past councils have bought an Adirondack chair and put all their names on it and I am going to do that for this council. We have an election coming up soon and things 8.18.2020 CC Minutes 3  will change. If any council members want to help, that would be great. I don’t mind doing it by myself because its been a pleasure serving with all of you. Bembas Thank you to Sheriff Donnellon for his service and best of luck as you enter this new phase of your life. I’ve never met anyone here who doesn’t love and respect the police. October 17th we’re having Halloween in the Nac. It’s still on. We will have socially distant activities. We’re selling duck tickets as the way to raise the money to buy the candy we’re going to give the kids. Gale Anthony has the tickets. We’ll have Boy Scout Troop 252 there and Miss Babette’s Dance Studio will do some Halloween dances. Rocky Gillis agreed to do the pallet maze again. It’s going to be fun. Stoneburner The concerts in the park ended last week and I want to give a big thank you to our sponsors. None of that is possible without the sponsors. September 12th Algonac Alive and the Algonac Lions are holding a Poker Quest road rally. You need to pre-register by September 5th. There will be food and you can come in your golf cart, side-by-side, bike, car or on foot. There will not be a need to travel on M-29; you may have to cross it but everything will be attainable without needing to travel on M-29. It’s $20 a team and all teams depart at 1 p.m. September 17th is the last slow roll of the season. It’s got a sturgeon theme so wear your fish gear. Finally, special thanks to Sheriff Tim Donnellon. We’ve all felt the gratitude toward police and first responders when they are there in an emergency. Sometimes we take things for granted but we sure appreciate them when things happen.
