9b6 City of Algonac Joshua Stewart 805 St. Clair River Drive Water Plant Supervisor Algonac, Michigan 48001 F-2 / S-2 EGLE Licensing (810)794-9361 Waterplant@cityofalgonac.org www.cityofalgonac.org (810)794-3281 City of Algonac Monthly Report - Water Department/Filtration Plant May-2023 -------- 29,639,000 Gallons of Water Filtered -------- 28,957,000 2,738,000 Gallons of Water Pumped Gallons of Backwash Information about the St. Clair River The average turbidity or clarity of the lake this past month was ---- 4.1 NTU The River had the highest turbidity on 5/25/2023 The highest turbidity (Clarity) for the St. Clair River this month was ----16.7 NTU -------- To supply Water to the residents of Algonac and Clay Township, the Algonac Water Filtration plant withdrew water from the St. Clair River totaling 32,337,000 Gallons The Algonac Water Filtration plant was staffed an operated for 438 hours this month by licensed operators ensuring compliance with drinking water standards, guidelines, testing and procedures In addition to Plant operations the Algonac Water Department performed: 7 Service Calls for Turn on/off 196 Meter Service Calls 7 Leak Checks Did you know? Its finally warm out! How can we tell? During the winter month the City of Algonac Water plant produces around 756,000 gallons a day. During the month of May we can see residence preparing their lawns, filling their swimming pools and returning to their summer cottages. In May our average goes up 25% to 1,000,000 gallons per day with Memorial Day weekend averaging 1,334,000 gallons per day. **The City of Algonac is proud member of the Anchor Bay Watershed Program. Submitted by: Joshua Stewart, Water Plant Superintendent Summary The Algonac Water Filtration Plant is required by the State of Michigan to conduct annual water sample testing. The Water Plant staff will pull the samples and send them to a qualified, State certified lab who will perform the required tests. Additional costs this year will include lead and copper sampling and synthetic organic compound testing, which is only performed every 3 years, and Gross Alpha (Rad) which is performed every 9 years. Two quotes were received: 3 557.00 Trace Anal tical Laboratories Inc. 4 856.25 It is suggested to use Paragon Laboratories, with a not-to-exceed amount of $4,000. Suggested Action: MOVED BY: SUPPORTED BY: RESOLVED, to approve Water Filtration Plant mandatory 2023 water sample testing with Paragon Laboratories, whose address is 12649 Richfield Ct., Livonia, MI 48150, in the amount not-to-exceed $4,000.00. Submitted by: Joshua Stewart, Water Plant Superintendent Summary The generator at the Water Plant requires an annual service contract in order to maintain emergency preparedness. Ruemenapp's Repair has made repairs to the generator in the past and has performed satisfactorily. Attached is a list of services that will be performed annually.
