DANGEROUS BUILDINGS COMMISSION James Downey, Hearing Officer Charles Bayly Karl Richardson Ed Carter Mark Thompson Joe Doan CITY OF ALGONAC 805 St. Clair River Drive Algonac, MI 48001 Minutes for Special Meeting Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 9 a.m. This was an electronic meeting held under authority of EO 2020-154 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Call to Order Hearing Officer Downey called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m. Roll Call Present: Bayly, Carter, Doan Absent: Richardson, Thompson Others: Hearing Officer Jim Downey, City Clerk Sam Boelke, City Code Enforcement Officer Lori Warner, City Building Official Tracy Kallek, Alina Postolatii, Kristyn Whiting Presentation – 809 State Street Hearing officer swore in Blight Officer Lori Warner and Building Official Tracy Kallek and property owner representative Kristyn Whiting. All parties presented their perspectives. Motion by Doan; supported by Carter that the garage be demolished and the exterior property be cleared of all debris within 30 days. The main structure, will be inspected by the chief building inspector to determine structural integrity and allow 90 days to come into compliance. If they don’t come into compliance or have a plan that satisfies the building official the within 90 days, to order the demolition. Motion carried. All parties presented their perspectives. 8.5.2020 Dangerous Buildings Minutes 1  Motion by Bayly; supported by Carter to temporarily remove the dangerous building designation for 60 days and allow the owner to continue to search for a buyer providing no work is done without proper permits. If, at the end of 60 days, the property is not sold, demolition will be ordered. Motion carried.
