Watson Township Board Meeting

Present:
Kevin Travis, Michelle Harris, and Kelli Morris.
Absent:
John Caras, and Tera Davis.
Agenda:
Trustee Harris made a motion to approve the agenda, Clerk Morris supported, all in favor, motion carried.
Minutes:
Clerk Morris made a motion to approve the minutes from April, Trustee Harris supported, all in favor, motion
carried.
Bills:
Trustee Harris made a motion to pay the bills in the amount of $19,764.41, Clerk Morris supported, all in favor,
motion carried.
Treasurer’s Report:
Supervisor read.
REPORTS:
A. Planning Commission:
Special Use Permit was approved for a gravel mine on 122nd Avenue in the township.
B. Martin Fire Department:
Martin Fire Department gave the board a written and oral report for the month. They will also be
conducting a “Mock” accident scene at the Martin High School parking lot this Friday.
C. Libraries:
Reports were emailed.
E. Sexton:
Mark Simpson reported one cremation burial, two foundations placed at Hicks Cemetery, and two plots
being sold at Hicks Cemetery. He also reported on some damage to the fence at Hicks Cemetery. This
will be repaired soon.
F. Code Enforcement:
The Supervisor read a report left by the code enforcement officer Jim Davis
G. County Commissioner:
None.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Open- 7:18 P.M.
Dave Lowman ( 2128 124th Ave.) wanted to report that there were four to five driveways plugged with sand
from his home down to about 2032 on 124th Ave. There is a plug at the corner of 20th and 124th, so water
cannot pass through. He believes the sand/gravel pit could be causing most of the damage and erosion. He
would like the board to be aware, and possibly be of help in getting the situation resolved. He spoke with
Supervisor Travis and Trustee Harris prior to the meeting. He will also send some pictures to further explain the
situation. He thanked the board for their time.

Old Business:
None.
New Business:
A. Allegan County Community Foundation:
Supervisor Travis received notice of a grand award for $2,000.00 from the Allegan County Community
Foundation. Supervisor Travis made a motion to accept the grant, with the terms and conditions
aforementioned, Trustee Harris supported, all in favor, motion carried.
B. Spring Clean Up Contractor:
The board discussed hiring a contractor for the Spring Clean Up event. It was decided to first
attempt to contract again with Bernie’s Haul Away. If that company is not available for the May 20th
date, Trustee Harris will call and get quotes from some other options. It was also decided to have
four (30 yard) containers for general items and one container for scrap metal.
C. Code Enforcement SOP Document:
Supervisor Travis read the Code Enforcement Standard Operating Procedure document. Trustee
Harris made a motion to approve the “Standard Operating Procedure” for Code Enforcement, Clerk
Morris supported, all in favor, motion carried.
