Parc Tax Advisory Board March 15, 2023 Minutes Attendees Brian Thompson Karen Schaack Hugh Johnson Katie Sorensen Brandon Smith Kimberlie Paulson Camden Bird Presenters Brandon Smith began the meeting at 6 pm. Minutes from March 8, 2023 were approved by Hugh Johnson. A second motion was made by Karen Schaack and the motion passed. Presentations Regalo Theater Company Crystal Pine presented for Regalo Theater Company. It was started 1 yr ago. It is volunteer based. They have received $119, 792 in donations and made $50,960 on ticket sales thus far. A few questions asked: How many people per class for their proposed class projects? Varies. Some classes as small as 5 - others 50-100. Would like to offer the class several times throughout the year. (Project proposal states 2-3) A question was asked about buying equipment. They do need to buy a fair amount of equipment. This is not to travel with or use at productions but to be used for classes and in their personal studio. Their priorities put the overall Regalo Theater Company, sound technician class, other classes, and productions at the bottom. Timpanogos Chamber Music Carmen Hall presented for Timp Chamber Music. It was started in 2021. Chamber music is typically in a smaller venue. Carmen reaches out to other musicians and invites them to join her in various concerts. Typically a trio or quartet. She pays these performers. She plans to have 5 concerts in Am Fork per year. She used to play at the library but has outgrown the space and isn’t a good fit for the library. She now uses MJ Pianos. Her concerts are free to attend. On average 100 people attend her concerts. Wasatch Music Alliance Jeanne Cooper presented for John Miller and Wasatch Music Alliance. She is on the board and a band manager. The Wasatch Winds has about 80 members and was started in 2006. The Show Band is a jazz/stage band that has 20 members and began about 2018. Concerts are typically free with a suggested donation. They do not have any other large donation this year and are in need of a grant writer to assist in obtaining grants and donations. Brian asked about the break down of ‘contractor fees’ and we will need John Miller to break that $29,700 down for us. Brian also asked why the ‘professional fees’ are up 100% this year from last year. In the project description it suggests a hosting a multi-community jazz band festival and that was not even mentioned until Katie Sorensen asked about it. Jeanne stated it is something John Miller is thinking about. Harrington Center for the Arts Spencer and Summerisa Stevens presented for HCA. It was started in 2017. They have 8 projects they are looking to help fund. They had a well outlined presentation. They are taking ‘chalk it up’ off the table this year and the $32,000 asked for. They would, however, like to keep the $10,000 for portable staging on the table. Minimal questions were asked as they seemed to cover their bases. We did have a discussion around their renovation updated and seismic upgrading of the old Harrington School. Alpine Community Theater Laura Snyder presented for ACT. They are 100% vounteer based. They are looking to put on a summer and Christmas production. The total expenses for the year are $110, 350 and the projected revenue is about $52, 750. They are based in American Fork. Because of lack of venue options they now have a contract with Liahona Prep Academy, which is in Pleasant Grove. Minimal questions were asked outside of discussion on the 20 year contract with Liahona for rehearsals and performances. Kimberlie Paulsen motioned to adjourn the meeting. Brian Thompson seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
