Parc Tax Advisory Board March 22, 2023 Minutes Attendees Brian Thompson Karen Schaack Presenters Hugh Johnson Katie Sorensen Brandon Smith Kimberlie Paulson Camden Bird Scott Okelberry Brandon Smith began the meeting at 6 pm. Minutes from March 15, 2023 were approved by Kimberlie Paulson. A second motion was made by Brian Thompson and the motion passed. Presentations Timpanogos Arts Foundation Reggie Walker presented. This year for each project they asked for the amount they received last year. They have increased ticket prices. A question was asked about their grant writing. They have had a turn over of grant writer. Currently writing about 6/month. No specific answer on how many grants they actually receive of those requested. Timpanogos singers currently has 2 grants. Wasatch Contemporary Dance Jessica Heaton presented for WCD. It was started 13 years ago. They are based in Provo and are looking to expand their reach to all of Utah County. They have done the ‘mover and makers’ project three previous times. It is a 4 day dance intensive for both choreographers and dancers. The project proposed is 4 days. Classes all take place in Provo studio. Show on last day to take place at Valentine theater. This is for professional dancers. A portion, including a film, will include local/Am Fork youth dancers. Youth would be required to pay a fee to participate. Fox Hollow Jackson presented for Fox Hollow golf course. They have had their highest revenue ever in 2021/2022. They are slowing updating many things at the golf course. They have about 50 tournaments per year. High school tournaments and local golfers as well. The beverage cart would run about 125 days year. He estimated about $200 in profit per day. Brian said they have done good things with their finances. He also asked about the previous PARC projects and the impact those are currently having on the golf course. Also the lifespan and longevity of the beverage cart were asked about. Friends of the Library Brooke Fuller (and others) presented. Personalized and specifically designed books as a reward for the summer reading program. About 2700 participate in summer reading. They would like to do monthly author visits from local authors including a few bigger name authors. About $20,000 for 4 big name authors. Writing class which has been well attended and enjoyed in the past. The book fairy project with several books and bag for all (including 4 non American Fork schools) first graders. American Fork City Cassandra Crane presented on the library childrens play area, mural and sound systems. Their priorities are play area, mural, south booth, rotunda sound system. They estimate they would use the rotunda sound system about twice a month. The south booth would be for better recording of library programs and would also be available to rent for local citizens. The mural would be a new commission and HCA would help find an artist to do that. They plan to rotate the murals. Derek Rykert presented on the various park and rec projects for the city. Bathrooms at Hindley, Art Dye and Greenwood park. They would be installed in the fall if funded. He also went through the various new playgrounds proposed and a basketball court at Rotary park. Park ammenities, park shade, bike racks, and another stone for the veterans at the cemetary were also outlined. Live American Fork Kristina Wesemann and Josh Walker presented. They are business partners at the Utah County Connection Magazine/KJ productions. They help the chamber of commerce with Steel Days. They are looking to enhance and add to Steel Days activites already taking place. The grand parade, big show, splash night, opening ceremony (drone show), teen pool party, and holiday at Robinson Park. Their top priority is the drone show. Brian Thompson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Hugh Johnson seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned.
