Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Siry, Deputy Mayor Kevin Smith, Trustee Bernius, Trustee Whalen, Trustee
O’Neill
ALSO PRESENT: Acting Chief of Police, Bryan Burton

Mayor Siry welcomed all those in attendance to the January 13, 2020 Board of Trustees Meeting and called
for a moment of silence upon the death of retired Detective Tony Visslailli, who was considered a true
gentleman and great guy.
He then invited Acting Chief Bryan Burton to lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Mayor then recognized Outgoing Chief Glenn C. Slack’s on his retirement and conducted a ceremonial
swearing in of Provisional Chief Bryan Burton. Mayor Siry presented a proclamation to Chief Slack,
acknowledging his exceptional leadership and loyalty as a decorated APD officer for 35 years, thanking him
for his many years of service and wishing him well.
He also introduced incoming Provisional Police Chief Bryan Burton, who started with the department as a
seasonal officer 1992, went full time in 1993, and was promoted to sergeant in 2008. Former Chief Slack
said that Chief Burton is a 27-year veteran, holds many awards, is a hard worker and good cop. He becomes
the 16th chief of the APD since APD’s establishment in 1904.
Mayor Siry introduced former Mayors Emil Pavlik and Peter Imbert and invited them to join in the
ceremonial swearing in. They offered hearty congratulations to Provisional Chief Burton.

The Mayor requested approval of the Board of Trustees Meeting minutes from December 19, 2019.
