Meeting called to order at 8:15 AM

The salute to the flag was led by Chief Bryan Burton.
Mayor Siry welcomed everyone to the October 8th Meeting of the Board of Trustees, a special
meeting to pay bills, conducted via Zoom Meeting.
Mayor’s Actions:
Mayor Siry requested the approval of the Board of Trustees minutes from September 28, 2020

Mayor Siry announced the promotion of APD Officer Jerry Blee to Sergeant, with a swearing in on
10/8/20 at 5 PM. A vote would be conducted at the next regular meeting.
With no further Mayor’s Actions, Mayor Siry moved to the agenda items.

Request from Jo Pettit for Amityville Rotary Club to tie pink ribbons on the gazebo and trees in
that area; then switch to red, white and blue for Veterans in November

Request from Building Department
Request from Michael Esposito, Vittorio’s Restaurant, 184 Broadway, Amityville to install a
temporary decorative barrier on the sidewalk of Greene Avenue for outdoor dining.
A discussion ensued about the need to offer support for businesses struggling during the Covid
epidemic while ensuring sidewalks are accessible and safe for pedestrians. Mayor Siry
recommended the sidewalk be closed which would require pedestrians to use sidewalk across the
street for a limited time. Bruce Kennedy advised the Board to identify an end date on this action.
MOTION to APPROVE and close the sidewalk on Greene Ave. at west side of Broadway
until November 30th was made by Trustee Bernius and seconded by Trustee O’Neill

Other Discussion
Trustee Bernius announced the Veteran’s Day ceremony would be taking place Nov. 11th without the
high school band.
Mayor Siry asked the Board to consider the pros and cons of accepting a donation of property on
South Bayview Ave. He stated it would be nice to have additional greenspace.
Trustee Bernius said School District Superintendent Dr. Mary Kelly was ok with potentially opening
the Park Avenue Senior Center to socially distanced show movies for the seniors.
